Fed up

Yes, aware of that and to be honest have always felt a little uncomfortable with it. I just rely on the fact that hotels beds are cleaned regularly.
As far as Hotels cleaning their mattresses are concerned - I worked for a large Employment Agency in Crawley and once a year we supplied labour to collect the mattresses from roughly 80 bedrooms bringing them outside to be loaded onto lorries The condition of them ALL was truly unbelievable and the Hotels in question were the largest and most expensive in the Crawley area, servicing Crawley Airport

What the filth was on the mattresses I have no idea but the condition of them was truly appalling and ever since witnessing this whenever I have stayed in Hotels since my very first job has been to inspect the mattress and yes I have complained and been given an alternative room

Am I a festidious individual, obsessed with cleanliness no just an ordinary bloke so please believe my description

Always look at your mattress!!

I usually do just that, but only second to checking out the fire escape route.

latest was exactly 1 week after the breakdown, Sat to Sat. They said a low loader will collect it from Hull and take it to Bristol on Monday (just gone) nowt since.
Are you not thinking it's time to ask for a refund and buy something else?

Because there’s nothing like the feeling of picking up a brand new van.
And the toilet’s never been christened😂😂
It is lovely knowing nobody else has used it (except for our toilet burglar, but that's another story) i looked at second hand, but the smell! The awful terracotta upholstery! Fiddly little curtains! and the SMELL...eww!:eek::rofl:

I don't understand why people buy 2nd hand when if you put a couple of grand to it you can get brand new instead of 10 years old. No brainer IMO 😊
I think you would find that the difference between a new and a 10 yrs old van is probably more than a couple of grand.

Any news?
Not sure if you are referring to the OP but.
Heard absolutely nothing from them be it by phone, e-mail or whatever for 8 day's.
This am i sent them a strongly worded mail that some answers must be forthcoming within hours..........or else.
It's now been just over 2 weeks since it broke down and we know nothing.🤷‍♂️

Are they stalling for a reason or just useless ,if you intend to reject the van better to do it now

Really don't know what they are doing as they have not been in touch.
As mentioned they have hours to get back to me with a full report. We will then decide.
Frustrating.

If nobody buy's new where are the used ones going to come from in X years  🤷‍♂️

There will always be some.

He wants the new engin.

She wants the new colour scheme

Etc.

Long may they buy.

It's been 15 day's since we picked it up so still time to reject. I need to know what the issue was/is.
If i have to reject it i will be asking for advice of what i need to do.
Couldn't be better placed than being a member on here for such advice.

bobnick. Sorry to hear of your woes Bob & Nick with your new MH. The service you are receiving is shocking indeed, and shouldn't be tolerated. Good luck resolving the situation to your satisfaction. (y)

Ditto here Brian. (y)

To those liking the thought of the nice new bed that no one has slept in, or the shiny new toilet that hasn't been christened, think on. If your new MH has been back and forth to the MH Shows and displayed by dealerships there as exhibitors, then there is a good chance it has been slept in by dealership staff. I have seen it evidenced with my own eyes. They don't all troop off to a hotel or B&B these days, at the end of their working day. And when matey wakes up in the night needing a quick pee, it is doubtful that he/she will get fully dressed to wander up to the toilet block. ;)

Cheers

Jock. :)

I think it's now the time to bite the bullet, grasp the nettle or whatever - on your terms not theirs. Get out of it there will be another nice new one around the corner. Forget Citizen Advice or gossip, go straight to a solicitor that understands these things and get your money back.
There will be another spanking new Motorhome just around the corner that will be better. The conversation about new or second hand reminds me of my mother saying 'they don't make them like they used to' no they don't and in the main thank goodness. Things move on, develop and do we really want something to last a lifetime - except ourselves. If you can buy new why wouldn't you?

If it was me,I would reject it. But it’s not me! The reason I would reject it is because I would constantly be worrying that the the poxy thing was going to break down. I wouldn’t trust it! I wouldn’t want anything to do with it! But that is illogical (must be my feminine side haha). The logical thing to do is to accept an offer to replace the engine, once I was happy that this was not likely to bugger up any other aspects of the vehicle……….it shouldn’t do,but with motorhomes you can never tell, they are a breed apart!

Good luck whatever you decide.

We’ve had our MH for a year now and its been a little trying to say the least.

RAC called out twice, once (Ad-blue issue) resulting in a trip to the dealers on the back of a low loader. 3 other trips to the dealer for engine warning lights. Luckily we were at home each time.

Hab issues including media head unit, rusting sink, leaking fresh water drain valve……and the list goes on. I’ve put a number of things right myself. Apparently in the trade it’s called a ‘Snag List’, and you’re lucky if you don’t have one. Been waiting nine months since the first issue, NONE rectified. Finally had the Head Unit delivered to me and having that done today.

I’m currently at a different dealership, from where we purchased the van as we have lost all faith in them, having a HAB check / service, which I will have done to make sure I can get all our out standing work done (Sunlight insist on having it done by one of their dealers to keep warranty valid).

Tomorrow, it’s in at our local Fiat garage for a minor service. Done less than 4000 miles in 12 months, so taking the advice in the manual about low useage. Hopefully we’ll be clocking up a lot more mileage this next year!

We are determined to get all these gremlins sorted and enjoy the van……..but it’s a trying experience so far. :(

I really do feel your pain. (y)
