Eurotunnel not extending time on yearly tickets

Although not exactly the same, there is an interesting article in the latest edition of Ombudsman's News, where they seem to agree with a man who claimed against his credit card provider when he had a carnet of ferry crossings which he was unable to use. In his case the company went bust, but it may be an interesting route to go down if ET wont be nice.

I do hope that Euro Tunnel have a change of heart re an extension. My friend and I bought the FT wallet for the 1st time in September and used 2 tickets each. We had planned on another 2 each being used mid May with the final 2 being used for another outbound trip this September. Basically it looks like between us we will loose 6 of the 10 tickets?. Makes our trip last September rather expensive and will certainly make us think twice before we consider the FT scheme again.

Just had this from Eurotunnel;

Under these exceptional circumstances we can offer an extension of 3 months to the bundle of tickets under your wallet to allow some more time for the journeys to be used.

This is an exceptional offer and hope you will appreciate that we will not be able to make such an offer again. Please confirm if you would like us to add this extra time to your bundle of tickets?

that extends my validity until September, who knows where we will be by then ? I will accept and cross that bridge later.

Ok I had my update from Eurotunnel today. I have two Frequent Traveller accounts the first expiring in May under the old system and they have offered me a refund of the 4 unused passes. The second account was a new one opened in November and they have added 3 months onto that expiry date.

So it seems the system is linked to whether you have a legacy frequent traveller account or the newer ones which you can top-up.

I am happy with that outcome so suggest contacting Eurotunnel via the complaints form and see what they offer you.

Sorry that's the one I used sent it 26/3 and heard back today.
I can't believe how awkward they are being. Why? Why on earth can't they issue a credit to the value of any remaining crossings to be used against a future Frequent Traveller wallet. What have they got to lose?

Has anybody got any further with Eurotunnel ?, they are being jolly awkward,

Has anyone asked for cancellation of a crossing booked with Tesco vouchers, or asked Tesco if they will return the value of tokens used?

We moved our 31st March crossing to the end of May but now realise it is probably more appropriate to cancel altogether.

We've just had an email response extending our end date by 3 months

Our end date isn't until 23 January. I've just asked for the email of the person I need to speak to about extending it and this was the reply (sorry for the quality of the picture)

Has anyone else with an end date that far away had an extension offered?

Our was November and extended until February we did however also have one expiring end of May and that was refunded back to the card.

Our end date was August

Just had my reply to my complaint, my ticket would run out in early february2021
they have refunded me the £80 for 2 dogs & given me a credit on my tesco points to be redeemed by booking before april 2021 for £225 but the booking can be used any time in 2021. not a bad offer , considering I though I had lost out.

I have 3 crossings running out early sept. They offered to extend 3 months I said that wasnt good enuff I wanted credit to go towards new account but the said no. I must now contact them if i cant use crossings by sept.
Why are they not treating everyone the same ?

Hi PORKSTER they said that to me ,or similar , so I put in a complaint ,saying how poor there customer service was and a copy of what they had said originally , then they came back with my offer. Hope this helps you get what you want

I’m surprised at the experiences of other funsters. I emailed customer services at the weekend regarding the 7 legs remaining in my shared FT wallet and I received this response yesterday:

Thank you for your email.

We do not underestimate your frustration with regards to the current situation and the fact that you may be unable to use all of your ticket before the expiry date of your wallet. In light of your continued loyalty to our service we have extended the current bundle of tickets for a further 12 months. This now makes the expiry date of this bundle to hopefully allow enough time for the journeys to be used.

As this is an exceptional offer, I hope you will appreciate that we will not be able to make such an offer again.

We very much hope that this offer allows you to use the tickets left in your account and that we may have the pleasure of welcoming you back on board in the near future.

Kind regards

Alison

Be interesting to see what you wrote so we can draw up a draft as they seem to be offering different outcome# to people!

I purchased Advanced tickets from GWR in February. These are not usually non-refundable, but because of restricted travel, all you have to do is apply online.

They aim to process and refund the money within 28 days.

Don’t think that’s the same as the Frequent Traveller though

just received from Eurotunnel

I know that you were concerned that you would be unable to use all of the remaining tickets on your account before it expires so I am pleased to confirm that we are now able to extend the validity of your account by 12 months. You will now have until 22nd June 2021 to use any remaining tickets.

We will shortly be sending a mailing to all of our loyal account holders to make them aware of this but I wanted to let you know in advance. As I have already amended the account, you don’t need to do anything when you receive the email.

That’s great news, did that arrive unsolicited or had you contacted them?
