EU Pet passport.. latest information??

I have a house here and we are Irish passport holders. When I get to the vet I will ask about this new edict. If someone needs an address in Donegal let me know you can use mine. Although the vets round here have been issuing pet passports no problem.

Just in the vet waiting on the issuing of the pet passports. I've decided to have rabies jabs rather than have them transfered as they run out next year. I asked the vet if there was a problem having a UK address (I have an Irish address to use). She said they are bringing in regulations that you cannot get an EU passport unless you have an EU address. She didn't know when it would be brought in but she thought it best to use my address here.

Thanks for that. Perhaps she will let you see a copy of these regulations at some point?

Maz I got the impression it was being discussed but not law yet. For info. Pet passport 20 euros consultation 30 euros and rabies jab (3 years) 35 euros. This is at Carn vets, Carndonagh Co Donegal. Getting 1.21 to the £ so total cost was £1.40.94. Paid by Monzo. There was also an Irish guy who came In after me getting a pet passport so he could go to the UK via Dublin.

Can anyone share a draft email that can be copied and pasted for booking an appointment for boosters and/or issue of a passport, please?

I suspect query relates to language. Not all vets speak English we have found and not all are familiar with passports

We never book. Just walk in, and ask.
We are travelling to France/Belgium specifically for this so want to be sure of an appointment first. One dog has an EU passport, the other will need a new one as still on a U.K. passport.

The vet we used in Belgium speaks very good English and even answers emails on a Sunday.

Can you please provide details of the vet and how you arranged the appointment? Apologies if you have already shared this, I've just looked right through this thread and can't see it but it doesn't mean it's not there!

I used the contact form on the website and just used English , she is very friendly and Coastal Cruiser. Recommended her

A quick update which may be helpful to anyone else wanting a pet passport. I emailed 6 vets in France, including those recommended by other motorhomers in this Forum and a vet we have used several times before. I was completely honest about our situation as there's no point in getting there to be turned away. Only one replied - highly unusual in my experience - and said no, they couldn't issue a passport to non-residents. The same email to Belgian vets got an immediate response with an appointment. I will post details of the vet when the appointment has taken place 🤞.

Obtained one for our scruff last week from vet in Benicarlo 75euro including 3 year rabies Jab took a week because of Easter but well worth the wait

I find they are much more obliging when you turn up and see them face to face. We have never been refused that way but have via email, and phone. Even at the same vets.

You are probably right but this (short) trip is specifically for rabies boosters and a new passport, so can't take the risk - otherwise we will be into revaccination and more AHCs.

Ours was also a short trip last week for our rabies booster. Phoned vet no appointments Walked in there about two hours later, and was told to wait there, and dog was then dealt with all ok. But I do understand your concern.

We’re in Preveza, Greece and obtained an EU passport for our pup yesterday using our home address in the UK.
I did offer the Greek boatyard as our address, as it was accepted for our residency application, last year, but the vet wanted bricks and mortar.
He transferred the 3yr rabies jab over from her vaccination records.
We asked him to give her a Leishmaniasis jab, which he did but needed to take and test a blood sample first. She’s also got a Scalibor collar.
The whole thing was €150.
We went to VetCenterPreveza as recommended by someone in the Cruising Association.

We're planning on getting an EU passport next month for our dog, The address they require is it from an address in the country of the chosen vet (Belgium) or could I use say an Irish address?

when we got ours in Belgium the vet didn’t care what address was used.

It depends on the vet. Some will insist on a Belgian address and registration on the DogID database, others are happy with a UK address. They all seem to be making it up as they go along, as there is no actual law on the matter. I would suggest checking with your chosen vet as to their particular requirements.

Yes recommended by Coastal Cruiser. easy parking outside and very friendly vet.
When we used her a couple of years ago she gave us the passport saying she'd put our UK address in and she would 'leave us to enter our new Belgium address in'. This was said with a very broad smile :giggle: We've since used her for rabies renewal in same passport, no comments whatsoever.

If using the Buchy vet there is no water available on the aire. Best to arrive equipped.
Water still off but MH parking area usable.

We've just been to the vet and it cost us €22 for our 3 using our own tablets, it was just the cost of a standard consultation. The cost per dog using their tablets was €9.
