EU number plate

Or how to go from an 80 majority pin up boy to a shambolic disaster in 7 months☹
Whilst on the face of it that is what the Media would have (US) believe. I cannot see any of the current opposition doing any better nor much that was different.?. But it has provided a fine breeding ground for an attack on the current incumbents?. While the rule of law is being aggressively undermined in the name of "Political Correctness".

You can have several possibles , BUT you will still need the BIG Oval GB to be legal overseas
I believe that the two letter international plates hark back a long way in time. UK might have been allocated to another country, I am not sure who. These day you will also see three letters on these plates so I say let us all live with the fact that as far as we are concerned it is GB and even if you do have the EU style GB with the stars does it really matter all that much to get het up about?

No, not until January then you need a GB one

never had EU or GB on my plates

the only person who thought it was A problem was anglais

I’m sure they know where I’m from 😄

the french Gendarmerie said with a smile , Ahh ecossais

As I understood it, displaying the EU flag and GB on the number plate is technically insufficient in Europe.
As GB wasn't a signatory to the Schengen agreement we've never actually had the right to free movement across European borders.
So, to ensure you stay legal, bung an oval GB sticker on the back.
They'll be coppers from the bay.

As members of the EU we had freedom of movement, the Schengen Agreement removed the need for border posts/checks across the borders of signatory countries.

Cymru

(or Wales )

or Scotland

would be more accurate descriptions of country of origin of the vehicle .

opps sorry

and England ,,,,,,Of course. :giggle: :giggle:

far clearer than GB (or UK for that matter.)

......but has to be sticky plastic GB sticker on the nearside rear for all of us to be legal.
But I want Hampshire. I don't want to be associated with those Yorkshire folk.

Ooh there's a thought. Can I have a red rose on a primrose background for God's county of Lancashire on my numberplate?
Actually could I have a St George's flag on the numberplate as long as I have a regulation stick on GB plate elsewhere?

It’s going to be far cheaper just to place the GB sticker on rather than replace the plates and if independence happens for Scotland and Wales it will be far cheaper to get a white Eng sticker.
The number plates will be classic by then:rofl:

Yes. Whatever you (legally) have on your numberplate (or don't) you have always been required to display a GB international identifier if travelling anywhere other than within the EU and a couple of other reciprocally agreed countries. After Brexit, you will have to display it if you travel anywhere other than within the UK.

Thank you for posting, it appears you won’t need a separate GB Black on white sticker So I guess that clears that up and won’t have to worry about the cost of changing plates or buying a new sticker.

Euro symbol
If you display the Euro symbol and Great Britain (GB) national identifier on your number plate, then you will not need a separate GB sticker when travelling within the European Union.

That is the current situation, as we are still a member state during the transition period. After Brexit, the internal arrangement amongst EU member states will no longer apply, and you will need a GB sticker.

Additionally, it is for the EU to decide how they wish to approach technically no longer valid EU plates being displayed on UK registered vehicles within the community area after Brexit. A, they may simply ignore it. B, we could have a concessionary reciprocal arrangement as per Norway, but as Boris wants a clean break with no formal arrangements between the EU and ourselves that seems unlikely. C, they may decide to prohibit the display of EU plates on vehicles registered in a country which is no longer a member and take enforcement action.

I posted that link more because it explains the only permitted options for displaying flags and symbols on UK number plates none of which are recognised anywhere outside of the UK (apart from the current arrangement within the EU for the acceptance of europlates amongst member states).

Are you really that bored? You need to get out more mate.

If you can't stand them, why did you ever have them on there, when there never has been any compulsion to do so? Genuine question!

I have sco on mine and added extra eu flags aswell as a Scottish independent in europe sticker as I like to plan ahead.

I'm in the process of changing to an Irish number plate too to avoid being associated with an anti eu brit

I've always found we scots are always welcome in europe so I dont forsee any probs.

Always erased them as soon as i purchased new plates. Back to the good old GB next year.
Think you’ll be unpleasantly surprised when you discover the implications of leaving the EU.
