EU number plate

All the foregoing, Assumes that the Media led criticism of the current Chinese virus issue does not lead to a collapse of government, and the rule of law, and the regime change desired by those fomenting the current unrest?.
Or how to go from an 80 majority pin up boy to a shambolic disaster in 7 months☹

Anybody able to offer definitive advice, is this legal...?

How about a MotorhomeFun logo with GB/UK below?

Thats what I’m planning.

Im looking at printing stickers to go over the existing EU/GB logo
You haven't checked the legality of that, have you?

No, must be black on a white background. Whether anyone would be bothered enough to do anything about it is another matter, but it is another thing that can give a foreign policeman an excuse to stop you and run through you, your vehicle and documents with a fine toothed comb, should he or she be minded.

We used to work on the assumption that if a driver isn't bothered about getting the little things right, he might not be bothered about the more serious things either, so a good indication that the vehicle is worth a "routine check".

It is legal..... But not sufficient to fulfill the legal requirements when you travel abroad. You would need an additional sticker that meets legal requirements.
The law defines what can be on the registration plate, the size, the placement etc.
It also says you must have a sticker of a specific dimension, colour etc.

The law doesn't say you can't have an ornamental/pretty one as well :p

It's not legal, in that it doesn't conform to the legal requirements. But it's not prohibited, in the same way as stickers with pictures of flowers or anything else you fancy sticking to your van aren't necessarily prohibited. It just doesn't mean anything, because it doesn't conform to requirements.

I know that's what you were trying to say, but there is an important distinction between what is legal and what is permitted when determining whether authorities will accept an item as compliant with its intentions ;)

Should that read "We are 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, except Scotland and Wales that seem to want to wander off the UK agenda every now and again just to show they can"? Now, that would be a national identifier! :giggle: :giggle:
That would be a fun competition for Jim to judge...design a MOHO friendly national sticker.

Not under the convention requirements it isn't

The requirements are elliptical with the longer sphere in the horizontal plane.
If only 1 letter then it is allowed to be longer in the vertical plane.
it has to be black letters on a white background. the height of the letters must be 80mm minimum with a width of 10mm
The sticker must be 175mm in width & 115 mm in height for those with 1 or2 letters .
If the identifier has 3 letters than it has to be 240mm x 145mm

The point i was making (not just to you) was, to leave Brexit and SNP politics out of a Fun Motorhome forum. There are lots of forums dedicated to Brexit and breaking up the Union if you feel disillusioned about a majority vote... or other politics for that matter! May i recommend "Quora". you will find enough on the subject there to keep you going for years. It is so annoying to have those comments thrown into a forum dedicated to our hobby.
Kind regards.

I added nothing to the new personalised plates but left the GB sticker on the back.
It did mean being pulled over for passport checks on entering Andorra, Switzerland and Denmark though.
So for next trip (year) I'll be SCO wi' bonny stars round it - for the long term!

Yes, since you ask
How about not abandonning my 93 year old father or 88 year old mother who would not be able to (or want to) move with me. Even if they did, then healthcare for them once the reciprocal health agreements end. Is that good enough for starters?

Lots of people have personal life issues or circumstances to deal with. However, they choose not to take the opportunity to voice them through their political persuasions on a dedicated discussion forum for Motorhome owners. If nothing else, it puts people of responding to the original subject. Politics is a personal thing - hence why we go to a private ballot box in private to cast our vote! Sorry, if that fact annoys you.

Sorry, but you asked 'whats stopping me from moving', and I answered you at your insistance that I gave you a reason. In what way is that political. I made a comment earlier about being bitter about what we have lost, because we have, and will lose a lot more. But can you tell me one tangible thing that will make your life and that of your family better? I doubt it. But you can reel out the old 'taking back control' and 'sovreignty' which are completely meaningless. I'll leave this now as I do not want to sidetrack this from the original post about keeping (or not) their Euro plates. But I will not be changing my plates, unless the law forces me to.

Igor_Blimey.

You are deliberately twisting my comment to suit your own narrative!

You sir, made a political comment based on sour grapes that we have left the EU. That is why i made the Quip - 'Why don't you move there' (if you don't like the result) instead of whingeing about it on this forum!

Even now, you are still trying to get your political views across:

Quote "I made a comment earlier about being bitter about what we have lost, because we have, and will lose a lot more. But can you tell me one tangible thing that will make your life and that of your family better? I doubt it. You see? You just cannot let it go! Can you please point out where I made any comments where i mentioned any of that?

You have completely just made that up! I never uttered those words! And you were the one that side tracked the forum with your political narrative!

I give up!

Used to be?. Had them back in the day too. Though I think (strictly speaking) they should be on a white oval background?.
