We got to Calais, via a couple of supermarkets, we got there and emptied the cassette and grey , didn't want any water so drew up to the barrier and it wouldn't let us in , a woman kept saying it was broken and to ring a number but couldn't be bothered so turned around and we are back in gravelines.
But it wasn't all bad as we have bought 12 bottles of Bergerac 14% red from Lidl at 1.99 euros and are just sampling it now in the van, it's beautiful, going back to get some more tomorrow. (y) (y) (y)

No one has ever checked how much we have on, even when checking for migrants, we usually bring enough back to last us til we plan to go again.
I don't bother with wine because it's still cheap in U.K. BUT Spanish Brandy at 7.5 euros a litre in Spain versus £18 to £22 a bottle in uk is a different matter..Bring as much back as I can squeeze in my van.BUSBY.

In Lidl here they are selling the exact same wine in identical bottles as in uttoxeter for 1.99 , here £4.99 in uttoxeter.

It's space to carry it in my van..Not too bad if I get it on my last day before returning home though..BUSBY

Well here we are back on the train, exactly the same as when we came two hours early and straight onto the train, no time for a coffee.

We got an earlier ferry (11.10) and we're nearly at the end of our ardous 15 minute journey home from Dover :xrofl:

Safe trip up country chaser

A nice little run out to blow off the cobwebs…👍🏼🍻😎

Just done five+ hours up M25 M1 , just unbelievable just don't know where they get all the cones from?

Been a great little break though to get back into the swing of things, gravelines Xmas do fantastic and we met up with another funster scousebird and had a bit of a natter with Helen and Alan.
Altogether a very pleasant run (y)

Glad you all had a good break, they scousebird are indeed a lovely couple…🍻

Must live in a different country to us m, some of the wines we buy in Spain are 4 times the price in the UK.

In the last 40 years the only time I have bought wine in the UK was during Covid.

Only pay £3.99 a bottle on average at Lidl..Not many wines at £1 a bottle in Spain...Bigger saving bringing Spaish Brandy home...BUSBY..

I guess it depends on the type of wine you like to buy. A bottle in the UK that would be £10-£15 is normally cheaper in Italy, Spain and France. I'm sure a bottle under £5 would not be cheaper, but we never buy it :ROFLMAO:

One that is €1.09 in Lidl in Spain is £4 60 in UK that's 5 times the price.
Tend to bring back ones €3 to €5 that would be £7 to £10 in the UK.
Limited on how much spirits you can bring back we are often over on the gin as its 2½ times the price in the UK price

My daughter informs me that these cheap wines are produced from inferior vineyards and not unusual to have to have wildlife (from machine harvesting) and the sweepings of the production shed floor included. but they are ok if that's what your used to.
