Apart from the usual anti ev hysteria what has this to do with electric cars? No mention in any of the news items, probably more to do with approx 50,000 lts of highly flammable fuels from 1,200 cars all in very close proximity, possibly a burst fuel tank leaked which then caught fire setting more cars alight.
Before we start guessing let's wait and see.

That’s why the question mark is there, but I think we have seen this kind of intensity before haven’t we? 🤷🏻‍♂️

My moneys on an EV starting the fire and more EV’s burning alongside the ICE vehicles.

The spread of the fire seems more like an arson attack, can’t see why the whole floor was alight so quickly otherwise

Some people are determined to push out bad news about EV's. You may be correct but it's several posts since Wh05apk suggested we wait to see, but still the armchair fire experts push their theory that it was caused by an EV.

It could also have been arson as already stated, and ICE vehicle, a EV charger, someone left a device on charge in a vehicle or any number of alternatives. Please give up this every fire is caused by an EV line?

You have to admit that when they go that they go in spectacular fashion? Seen enough evidence of that in recent years, but you are right, it might be caused by someone vaping instead 😇😆😎

According to one eye witness report I read, a passenger flying in spotted two fire engines attending a single burning vehicle on the top deck of the car park and by the time he was on the ground the whole lot had gone up. EV? Maybe, maybe not, but the speed of the other vehicles catching fire is suspicious.

As far as EVs are concerned, I would be more worried about getting one insured than I would be about it catching fire. . . . . . . https://www.forbes.com/sites/neilwi...ts-could-cripple-european-electric-car-sales/

One wonders what the investigation will say about the cause of the rapid and uncontrolled spread of the fire from a single vehicle (being attended to by 2 fire appliances according to a witness) to other decks, leading to a partial collapse of the structure. If no EVs were involved then you can eat my hat.

I remember seeing a Reliant Robin burn out on Southsea sea front once - that was pretty intense, all over in about two minutes . . . .

I thought that igniting diesel fuel is supposed to be rather difficult. Surprising that a diesel RR caught fire so easily.

Chief firefighter said it was likely a diesel car that ignited very shortly after being left. The open side of the car park caused fire to spread sideways before upwards. No sprinklers, either.

Floor 3 initially.
Fire out at 8:45 - suggest it wasn't a runaway ev battery fire?
I think you will find that is 8,45 am ,this morning.

No sprinklers either? Can't recall seeing a multistorey car park without sprinklers?
