Ehu socket replacement

A connector can be 'panel-mount' or 'in-line'. So the van end of the EHU cable has an inline socket, which mates with a panel-mount plug fixed to the van. At the other end of the EHU cable is an inline plug, which plugs into a panel-mount socket.

Got a link? Mines broken too!
Here you go

The hardest bit was carefully removing the old one as they are fitted tight . I ran a Stanley knife slowly around the old one and carefully levered it out using a large flat board screw driver - the rest was simple even for me

Changing the socket on the van side, not the plug
Sorry to be pedantic but surely the connector fitted in the side of the van, is a plug, the mating part on your extension lead is a socket, otherwise your extention lead could potentially have two live pins, ⚡⚡⚡😁

I lived dangerously, I mean right on the edge of the envelope…….i changed mine without telling anyone 🤦🏼‍♂️

The flag you mention I presume is the "flap" that covers the "plug" fitted to the motorhome . Depending on the make you may be able buy the "flap " seperately. Mine was on a Dethleffs Magic. I ordered the flap from Reliance in Chichester . enquiries@reliancecms.uk Chris is excellent at sourcing accessories for all manufacturers . It will save you removing the "plug socket " from the motorhome if this is the case. To clarify the socket on your motorhome is a flush male socket and the blue EHU lead has a female socket . Trust this helps .

This thread has been very stimulating and amusing. I am going follow PPbear and change mine (in dark glasses)
incognito socket swapping,
Ooooooh

I think it's correctly termed a bulkhead or panel male 16a Ceeform. In theatres the bit on the cable that fits into the bulkhead male is a 'flying female' but is more commonly known as a free socket or free female.

That said these things have various names Ceeform, Commando, plug,, male, socket, female, free, in-line, floating, bulkhead, panel, fixed, static etc. just make sure you get the right one.

I find wearing rubber wellies is always a good idea when doing any electrical work, especially if it's raining.......
but remember not to touch the live wire together with the earth wire or you may find your hair standing up straight like mine did once. It was shocking to say the least!!! :madder:
You will find the wires are different colors! ::bigsmile:
