just looking
Hi all
We have just ordered a Roller Team T-Line 700 as our first motorhome only having camped before so new to the EHU world. Wondering what people’s views are on what length of cable to get. Have seen a few comments in various places that 10m ones can be on the short side depending on the site layout but one comment suggested 25m which seems a bit belt, braces and piece of string especially as I get that you need to unroll the whole cable to avoid the overheating issue when in use.
As ever thanks in advance for all the comments!

25m and cut in 2 ( or buy 10 & 15 if you don’t want the small amount of work). 9 times out of 10 the half is enough but there’s always an exception… and just when you really need it. Also if going to Europe, bring an adapter for 2-pin sockets

+1 for the 2 pin adapter. We found a surprisingly number of these on our last trip.

I think the “standard” cable sold in the uk is 25m. So start with that. It sounds as though your van may be new and from a dealer. At one point you automatically got a new cable with a new van. I am not sure that is the case anymore. I would try and persuade your dealer to give you one and maybe a cold water fill hose as well. Peanuts for them.

We have a 35m and a 15m. The 35m on a reel is the daily used one and the 15m is kept under floor just in case, it’s actually our old one that was 20m but some numpty cutting the grass at a campsite manage to conveniently shorten for us🤔 now recycled into a shortened back up.

While you are haggling with the dealer about freebies and/or items at cost I find having two hoses and reels useful - A nice long one and a very short one for when the water point is adjacent to the grey water discharge, has no hose attached and you do not want the pfaff of squeezing the water out of a very long hose to get it back on the reel! You will also need a variety of connectors as, sods law, the one you need will be the one you have not got!!!

25m.

Caravan Club sites often require this length. But no joins, they are cracking down this year and will ask you to unplug and move pitch.

Yes - I wondered about the ‘joining shorter lengths’ - we had to disconnect ours on one site (can’t remember which one) as ‘they don’t allow joined cables’……:(

Is that even if you have a sealed waterproof connection cover

Yes - the connectors were in one of the ‘submarine cable type’ green covers - guaranteed waterproof, but it all fell on deaf ears - ‘The Rules Say…..’:(
