EE Roaming charges

Have been using ee data roaming for the past 3 years on our visits to the Spain/Portugal which normally last around 90 days. I have a Sim only deal for £22 a month which gives me unlimited data and until now have paid £25 a month for a roaming pass. Whilst it may seem expensive to some I find the ee network gives brilliant coverage. EE have now decided to stop the monthly pass and change it to a weekly pass @ £25 so £100 a month or a £2.47 daily charge so around £75 so looks like I will be looking elsewhere for a better deal.

We get 25GB each abroad and unlimited texts etc

I think there is something about more than 62 days or more time abroad than at home which is a bit of a pain but overcomeable with local sims whilst we are out there, or that is the plan

Lebara lets you use up to 30gb of your data in Europe. I'm currently paying 49p/month for 50gb

We've been with ee from the beginning and they have steadily increased their roaming charges, this last change has made us decide it's time to leave, so binned them and have gone with 02, hey no roaming charges.

New EE contracts still include roaming, you would have to leave first if you want to keep your number though. I wouldn't be paying extra for it especially those prices. I can see them offering unlimited everything plus a premium service like netflix and eu roaming inc for £29 a month. Prices likely to differ per account but the main thing is the EU roaming included in the cost with no additionaly to pay.

It’s a pain. I think it changed just before Christmas. EE do other plans that include roaming. We’re on a roaming plan that is a 1 month rolling contract. If you have EE broadband you can get some big discounts with EE. We moved from BT broadband (no early termination fee) just to get the EE discounts.

We moved from O2 to EE because the network coverage in our area was getting worse. It used to be really good. We were lucky to get 3G outdoors. I complained to O2 and they said there were no network problems. Since moving to EE we get 5G indoors and EE used to be very poor in our area - lucky to get a signal of any kind outdoors.

Have had 6 trips abroad during the past 3 years each one upto the 90 day mark and have never had a problem with the 62 day rule which I had never heard of until today.

When were your contracts started? If pre-brexshit then you may well still have free roaming. That's the reason I am keeping my phone sim as it can be used in EU at no extra cost.

Negotiate with EE, I have free EU roaming after negotiations.

Don't think the new contracts have a cap on the roaming part. They do some without roaming though so just be careful that you choose the one with it included.

That's what I would do as they wont want to lose a customer when they can give it for free

I am with EE and always negotiate free roaming into the contract. You ring up for a PAC to leave, reject first offer and wait for a more senior salesperson to ring you. I only pay £10 month.

As others have said …. negotiate with EE. They’ve been brilliant with me. Without going into detail, I have in excess of 100gb data with all the eu roaming I need bundled in with my plan and pay £25 a month. I also spend significant periods of time outside the uk.
I wouldn’t bother with face to face shop staff, dial 150 and select the ‘are you thinking of leaving us’ option.

Well they didn't with me, just suggested I get a new contract with them that'll end up costing over £30, been with EE for over ten years.. off to o2 now.

Things move fast.. was online chat with o2 just about to sign up when I gat a call from EE 'retentions' offered me the same deal I already have for half what I'm paying now, £26 down to £12.. 100Mb free roaming included... well chuffed.

I came over to Spain beginning Dec and asked EE for my PUCK code as i wasn't getting a deal of them.
They got back to me 2 days later and offered unlimited everything with free EU roaming but capped at 50gb for £13 a month so I took it.
On arrival in Spain I bought a Lobster SIM ( all services in English) 200gb £16 every 28 days and that does all my TV ,with no VPN needed on the fire stick ( catch-up is a bit hit and miss though) and you can use it back in UK or park it until you're next visit
I come out for 4 months every winter and the sim deals change every year but this suits me this year .

EE offer a sim only deal inclusive of EU roaming for free with a data cap of 50 gb per billing period. Pop in on of the shops and ask about a new deal. I have just changed mine and it’s set up with the roaming included on my contract as an add on

I spoke to EE and got £10 off my bill with unlimited data and roaming to 55 countries included in my sim only deal so we'll worth the chat.

Last year we went to EE to see the cost of roaming for my wife. We thought the cost was expensive at £2 a day so said we would exit EE and go to Tesco which was free. Before we left the shop, EE head office phoned and asked to speak to my wife and she was offered a deal for the time we were away, free roaming and a reduction in her monthly payments. She was pay as you go.

Just to be clear; can you watch UK TV while in Spain with a Lobster sim and NO VPN?

And how would I buy one when visiting Spain as I don’t have an address there.

Do you use your Lobster sim in a phone or a router? I am thinking of doing this when we go to Spain in March but I have had a lot of trouble with standard sims rather than Data sims working in my router. Neither Tesco or Lebara worked but an EE data one did. RWG did but they have changed their packages now and we went to IQ mobile last trip and their data cap reduced to 25gb! Trying to find an alternative is a nightmare each trip lol! Also can you just get the Lobster Sim in a supermarket or do I need to find a mobile phone shop?

Same with me. I'd been with them for 6 years, phoned up in January saying I intended to leave and told them that I was looking for free roaming.
No offer was made.
I'm now with Tesco.
