Ducato Wing Mirror Protectors..Worth the money?

My mirror protectors have been clacked so many times I may need to replace them soon - a couple of cracks in them clearly visible.. The mirrors themselves are as good as new. 'nuff said.

Definitely worth it. 2 days after fitting mine a van hit my mirror at speed and it survived all in one piece. Previous time it happened, the whole mirror and casing exploded. Very expensive to repair!

Looking to get Funsters views on the value of Ducato wing mirror protectors. Do they provide a good level of protection? I don't want to spend on something that seems like a must have but turns out to be waste of money.
100% worth every penny . I got mine straight away when getting my van. Not only look great . But will def protect from scratching ect. 2020 auto roller fiat ducato.
I got mine on ebay £30 great but. 👍

Absolutely worth it. I have been clipped twice now. First time coming down Loch Lomond side - no protectors. Complete wipe out of wing mirror. Second time in France after fitting protectors. No damage. Go for it.

The only point missing here is that if you are partway through an extended tour of EU and such an event occurs, going on eBay and getting a part delivered to a French etc campsite which you are staying in for the next few days is not a good option, plus it will cock-up the trip (could). Mirror guards just need a polish off and jobs a good-un, as they say.

Just my opinion, each to their own.
Good Point, well made! I've just ordered some :)

I have a Pegaso A class Motor Home Mirror Guards every day for me, you can get cheaper ones but the padding on mine are excellent, I also have white so they stand out to other vehicles.

Not worth bothering on an A Class really as a lot higher up than anybody else's, and quite snug to the van, unlike long arm coach built 🤷‍♂️

Didn’t know Mirrorguards did chrome ones? Mine are white and radio works fine.
I don't think they do. Mirrorguards have become a generic name a variety of mirror protectors from other companies piggy back on.
I live a few miles as the crow flies from the designer/manufacturer and they fitted mine. The choice was white, black or metalic silver which as I posted previously matches Fiat Artense Grey which I chose and added a couple of dayglo strips for visibility.
Genuine Mirrorguards are substantial pieces of engineered motorcycle helmet grade material designed by a man in a shed but just work so well! They are the best.

Transit mark 7 electric adjustable heated mirrors are £30 each side. i carry a stainless steel replacement if one got damaged.
You should always report being hit even without a rgeistration number as if the other person got yours & reports it ,it is "leaving the scene of an accident"

This afternoon I am picking up my nearly new Nuevo, which is on a Fat base, there are some black mirror protectors on the MH which I am changing for a white set.
I am hoping to be able to remove the old set without any damage, if so the black ones will be available on MH Fun FOR SALE.
I am in Dorset so not a million miles away.
I think the majority of MHs consider the protectors a good idea, feel free to PM me .
David.
If any member has ideas on removing the old set I would be most grateful for their comments.

Don't you believe it. No strikes on my previous Marquis. The Carthago has been clipped by a French fire engine and a UK vintage bus. Fortunately only required realignment and a bit of T Cut.

What are the drop down mirrors called?

Just noticed this thread today which may call into doubt the above point of view.

I got my replacement mirror today at 14:00hrs it took me 4 hours to fit. Why? Because it wasn't an OEM product and all the mounting studs were far too long. It wouldn't screw down flush, so hacksaw off the excess, file and smooth, trial fit, files some more etc. However it's all fitted now and looks OK. At £67 I cannot really complain.

In 20+ years of motorhome travel, I have clashed mirrors once and scraped the off-side mirror in a French toll booth. Neither with any real damage, however, for some reason I felt the need for Mirror Guards. I put them on this morning, and within a mile of setting off I really bashed at 30 mph an “unseen” back door on a Wren kitchen delivery van. No damage whatsoever and barely a mark on the Mirror Guard. Karma! Worth every penny.

Great piece of kit

I’m going to go against the consensus here!

We had mirror guards on our first van, and they certainly didn’t do their job in a relatively low speed clash with a French Transit MH. Guard cracked and mirror came out (I managed to do a temporary repair. I then ordered a single replacement for cracked mirror guard - the company’s service was appalling and they failed to send it despite repeated promises. I cancelled the order, we went away several days later and they sent it while we were away. They refused to refund and I ended up having to do a recharge via bank.
We did get replacements from Van Comfort in Retford, which seemed at least as robust.
I don’t have any great issue with the mirror guards themselves, even though my experience is that they didn’t do as well as they really should have. But the owner has an appalling approach to service, and I’d advise against any dealings with him.
