Driving licence turn around

I really think as a Club, we should have a collective agreement as to a specific course of action.

It is not acceptable to have a curtailment in our right to travel abroad.

I respectfully suggest that, say, four weeks is sufficient time for a Gov. organisation to turn around a request for a post 70yrs licence renewal.

If we had a systematic approach to complaining at first instance and following that up, say 2 weeks later with a complaint to our MP. then they just might pull their finger out.

It would be of no surprise to me if approaches of complaints by MP's had to be recorded and would be subject of scrutiny by Select Committees.
Please please please ask you MP to raise the issues with this lady - the more complaints the better as she can actually do something! Although even her office has been badly affected by covid.

Have to agree, DVLA not fit for purpose. However, I could also say that about my local Doctors Surgery? I am a diabetic and until April this years reliant on daily injections of Insulin. Needless to say, for the past eight years I have had to under go endless form filling, sometimes three annual medicals and all that for a one year Driving Licence. Imagine my joy when, in April this year I was taken off Insulin! I contacted DVLA asking for the a replacement Driving Licence to cover the normal three year period. I received further forms to complete and at the end of June DVLA wrote to my Doctor to make enquiries regarding my fitness to drive. Despite repeated enquiries I finally pulled the plug and wrote a formal letter of complaint to the Doctors Surgery and also wrote to my local MP on Monday 11th October. No surprise to receive a phone at 17:15hrs on that same day from the Surgery stating that they had found the letter from DVlA, had completed it and would post it the next morning. So far three and a half months for the Doctor to respond and over five months since I first contacted DVLA. Needless to say, I am not holding my breath. I too would like to think that I shall be heading south in January.

The delay should be split into counties and Swansea for the Welsh only, should be done at each counties main offices, in Florida you walk in with old licence pay the fee wait 10 or 15 mins photo done, 5 minutes and walk out with new plastic card licence all done easy.
But on the other hand, you have to have your sight tested every 12 months as licences only last 12 months in Florida. Husband #1 and I both thought that wasn't a bad idea really!

DVLA received mine 30 July. If you dig deep in their website it tells you when they will process it based on date of receipt. I think mine's due to be done in a couple of weeks.
Thought I'd email them yesterday. Got a swift reply saying it was in the post. It arrived this morning. At least I can do a bit more work now and book ferries for next year 🙂

what is the email address of DVLA please.

Just got my C+E back no queries sent in 1st week Aug :)

what is the email address of DVLA please.
Not sure! I found a dialogue box under their contact pages somewhere! As an HGV driver I am classified as a critical worker (I'd have thought the people servicing the lorry, selling fuel etc were all involved) so ticked that box. No idea if it made the slightest difference to getting a prompt reply.

If you are able to do it on line and the process does not need the intervention of a human you can get a new one very quickly. Dorset Lady did hers a few weeks ago and had her replacement in three days.
