Rally Dorset Coastal Campsite Meet At Highlands End & Jurassic Fields Festival 9 - 13 July 2020

New to both funsters and motorhoming. By chance staying at pitch 105 until Saturday. Already enjoyed meeting Jasz and DuxDeluxe and looking forward to talking to more funsters. We are novices so any advice and recommendations greatfully received.

Dave & Becky
Good to meet up with everyone so far - as I said.... never be afraid to ask anything technical and Welsh rugby is fair game for a laugh as well

That's great (y) - have popped you on the list so others know you are there - hopefully meeting a few fellow Funsters will encourage you to try more meets & rallies. We find having met lots in person now definitely improves our experience of the forum & some have become firm friends too. Always ask as we were all newbies once!

All sounds good and we look forward to getting down there, leaving Worcs at about 10:30am. I love it when a plan comes together. This shocking July weather cant last forever and yes the forecast for the weekend is DRY & SUNNY:sun:

Out of curiosity is it first come, first served or are the pitches allocated in advance?

I will be there late tomorrow afternoon or early evening, probably 5.00 pm - 8.00 pm. Does anyone know if there is a problem with checking in at around these times?

I’m Keith by the way. The one with the filthy AutoSleeper because the weather was too horrible for me to wash it today, as I had intended to do 🤣

Hi Keith :hi: - I've updated the lists with your name now. The arrival instructions vary from what we have had before so will copy & paste them below - for arrivals after 6pm you need to call the campsite Reception on 01308 426912 to find out the check-in procedure:

Pre-arrival Information
Pre-arrival information for holidaymakers
Due to Covid-19, we have made many changes to the way we operate so it is vital that all visitors (including regular visitors) read the essential information below before arrival. Thank you. Things will look and operate differently to what you are used to so please be prepared for that. More information can be found on our FAQs and Covid-19 Blog and any queries can be emailed to bookings@wdlh.co.uk.
Arrival Procedure
  • Check In – On some holiday parks at busy times, a member of the team may be available at the Park entrance to check you in without leaving your vehicle. Where this is not the case, please get 1 member of your party to visit the Park Reception.
  • Arrivals Time – Please respect and follow the check in times. On busy days, we will operate a staggered arrivals procedure and you should be contacted to agree an arrival time. If you are staying in self-catering or glamping accommodation, we will call you when the accommodation is ready and you can go straight there.
  • Late arrivals – If you plan to arrive after 6pm or are delayed, please call your park reception, who will give you instructions (numbers below).
  • Track & Trace – We need to comply with Government guidance by having contact details for every visitor to the Holiday Parks. If this information wasn’t collected on book in, you will be asked for it on check-in. This information will also be required to visit Martin’s Bar & Restaurant at Highlands End Holiday Park.If you have any visitors to the park, please ensure you inform the Park Reception of their details.

Hope you have a good trip down to delightful Dorset - every year we have been blessed with sun so far! Sure those already there can advise on their experience this time but normally we stop & park up just before Reception then check-in involves being given all the relevant paperwork including the site map like this https://wdlh.co.uk/holiday-parks/highlands-end/park-map/ & the areas with the pitch type we have booked is circled (i.e. grass, gravel or concrete) then we head off to those areas to pick whichever of those are free & suit us best. Some like to be near the toilet & shower blocks, others like a country or sea view or to be near the dog walk or play areas etc. You don't have to inform Reception of your pitch number as their ground staff on their golf buggy go round each day & note registrations & pitch numbers - as mentioned above there is sometimes some shuffling to preferred locations in the mornings as others leave. Hope that helps but it may be a little different this year.

If anyone is now at Highlands End but doesn't want other Funsters to know then please don't feel pressured to post your location - you can always PM me :active: if you have any queries that we might be able to help with. Like on rallies some like to have a quiet time or do their own thing & probably even more so at the moment.
Hope that posting locations will help those that want to say hello :hi: to each other & put faces to the names that they have seen on the forum. Know that not all have Fun stickers or badges so may not easily spot each other otherwise.

Karen, even though you and Alan aren’t here, you are still doing a marvellous coordinating job. (y) A real big thanks from all of us; there has been quite a lot of socially distanced mingling and everybody having a great time. Even persuading a show jumper with a caravan to join MHF...... lousy weather but looking better tomorrow and onwards. Good to see some old friends and make new ones. Cheers, wish you were here

I arrived at 5.45 pm 😊 David DuxDeluxe now has a lovely view of my filthy rear end 🤣 For the avoidance of doubt, that’s the rear end of the motorhome!

I’m shattered after a 220 mile drive down, so it’s the land of nod for me soon. Hope to see some of you in the next day or two 👍

Thank you for your kind words David - much appreciated & glad to still be able to help a little even if only virtually. Missing you all but really looking forward to next year. Great to hear that Funsters are having a good time whilst keeping safe (y) Bet a few more join too once they see what a friendly bunch you are!

Forgot to say I’m here pitch No 176 :giggle:
That’s OK Nev.... I have two fences, a hedge, barbed wire, a couple of strategically placed claymores and a cattle prod between yourself and my grog locker. :Eeek:

Good to see you again.... your van looks pretty good as well (y)

Got here yesterday. Pitch 95. Kev and Ju are on 96.
We have already met some other Funsters.
Weather is lovely so bring on a brilliant weekend(y)
