Does anybody use their carpets?

When you say washing, do you mean with a carpet cleaner or in the washing machine?
Our wee dog isn't a good traveler and has been sick a few times, we managed to wipe up the mess and can't see any stain although it's probably there. We have put a few rugs and puppy pads down which has offered some protection, but not always
The Dunelm Marvel mats we use just get a shake out to get rid of grit and then get bunged in the washing machine.
As well as various sizes in the Marvel mats, they also do runners if you want a longer length to go down the middle of your van.

I don't have fitted carpet in the kitchen at home, why would I want it in the van kitchen? Like many others we take out the supplied carpets and use Marvel mats that are much easier to keep clean.
Plus in the Europa there were two holes in the middle of the lounge carpet where the table leg sockets were. We don't use the tiny tables that came with the van, removed the socket and have a complete mat made from a could have been made for it carpet offcut from the emporium known as Trago.

We have one of the long runners in our PVC, it’s one of the Marvel mats from Dunelm. I wash it after every trip and it looks like new but it’s three years old now. Will definitely buy another as and when necessary.

Yep, that's what we do. :giggle:

I don't under stand why by new vans take carpet out use similar cheaper product and then put it in for whoever buys it preloved to get the benefit of the lovely new carpets
I don't understand why people order the carpets in the first place they are a £400 to £500 option, then they don't use them.
I must have more sense I don't order them.

We have been known to put the carpets down when romance is in the air ... We begin on the bed but conclude on the carpet because we both prefer a mat finish ... :dance2:

Twist or shag pile?

We didn't order them, they were already with it, some previous ones didn't have them (stock vans), but if ordering we'd soon delete them along with other stuff we didn't want too such as the bedding set (bottom sheet, 3 cushions and a large throw) for our Carthago that would have cost over £300, flogged it on Ebay in the end.

Turtle mat runner and mat for us. Easier to just lift out, shake, and replace. Then a couple of times a year into the washing machine. Much more practical than cream carpets

We had no choice - they came in the price - and rolled up in the garage.
As they are a light beige and look lovely (for about ten minutes) we have chosen not to use them and bought two nice thick red ones from Boundary Mills at £4.50 each.

If you buy a stock van UK dealers always appear to spec them, anything to get their sale price & profit up.

That's in the lounge of course.
Adams of Kidderminster Fine Worcester Twist for us, in lounge, dining room and hallway. Cost was over 2/3 of the price I paid for my first property within 15 miles of Kidderminster in 1974 ...

Depends Lenny, with Brit vans they tend to be standard or part of one of the option packs so you get them whether you want them or not.

If they were a specific cost option I probably wouldn't bother either unless the missus wanted them and we never use the bathroom carpet, ours is currently the van door mat.

Must admit though that a dry foam and good hoover brings them up lovely and it's now just another part of the travel prep routine.

We used ours in our frankia all the time. We wet vacuumed them on our kitchen floor when dirty. We are about to have some custom made for our globecar in a darker carpet, our frankia carpet was cream!

Lovely colour but it reminds me of why I don't have single coloured rugs/carpets as they tend to show all the fluff! Once made the mistake of having a burgundy stair carpet thinking it wouldn't show the muck so much, which it didn't, however it showed every ruddy dog hair!
