Doc on tour, France, Spain, Morroco.

You are not on your own, I like that Graphic as well, and I think with Tams tweaks, it will look good. Its ok having the bonnet resprayed, but what if it comes out just the same or worse.

Me personally I would go for the graphic, and then when and if I am ready to sell, get the bonnet done then, in the meantime enjoy something different

Looks good Tam (y)

Personally, I would have gone the subtle route, along with 'adventure before dementia' on the back. ::bigsmile:

Exactly my thoughts

Besides they won't repaint the bonnet , their job is done and finished that's the quality for the price I paid and overall I'm very pleased how the van has turned out.
None of it is perfect, faults can be seen if you look for them ,but the front is the face of a vehicle and where everyone looks so I know the blemish would annoy Me everytime someone said " oh that's in good nick for its age .. apart from the bonnet " lol

So as I said

I wouldn't even consider putting a generic graphic of mountains compasses or adventure before dementia type tack on this van

An individual handpainted piece of artwork though that ties in with my love of animals, the name of the van etc would be nice in my opinion.

And if in the future I don't like it or I'm going to sell the van the bonnet can be removed sanded and resprayed then ....probably by myself.

I don't want any other type of design , I liked that painting when the geordies had it done 2 years ago.

I'd like it changed slightly to suit me ...the goat tree in the centre a few other trees and a mix of animals and my doc dolitte name on it ..

He's the artist and from what I can see he is good so I'm sure he can do it to scale with the animals and trees and in the space I've shown him .

For £35 I think it's a nice souvenir to have and adds a bit unique Ness to Doc

I think I'm gonna go for it.

More importantly though ;) what is happening with the Concorde Tam ? grey is getting quite popular  are they doing a full colour change.
I'm not sure .. its half in bare aluminium half in red oxide at present . The guy seems very laid back about it too..

He's had artwork painted on his trailer yesterday . He's set up in the corner with his own garden and washing line .. I think he's here for a while

You are going to have to stay a while longer so we can see the final result of the mullered Concorde.

Not keen on the original graphic on the bonnet you posted it looks too OTT, that would look OK on a large area like the side or back of a van but not on the bonnet.
My choice would be to get them to respray the bonnet.

Any decent sign writer could make you some graphics to your design, would make life much easier if it comes to repainting the bonnet.
I'm not sure it would as it'd taken me 2 feckin days to remove 2 vinyl stripes and I've still glue to remove

If it was paint I'd sand the bonnet and spray it myself with a couple of rattle cans .

I too am of the opinion that getting the bonnet resprayed properly, is the really important factor right now Tam. 🤷‍♂️

Cheers,

Jock. :)
The only way that would happen is if I paint it myself or get it repainted in the UK .. they just don't have the skill or good enough equipment here to achieve perfection ....and if the bonnet was perfect the rest would look imperfect 🤷‍♂️

Yes I'm desperate to see that done but not sure if I will lol . I'll be in tafroute a little longer anyway as I want to check my rear brakes etc too . And I'll probably head back towards the coast after here via tiznit I think . I'm not going to do the desert or high atlas etc this trip ..

Have to say they've done a cracking job replacing the wood on this horsebox that was rotten if I'd not seen the huge hole I'd not know where it was repaired

Not sure of the design

That dog graphic on the van on left looks naff

We full timed in our first Van, & we were always saying “we better not do that in case we sell it”, & in the end we traded it in, & I don’t think it would’ve made any difference if we’d done some alterations. You can think too much about resale value - it’s your home, & only you need to like it! Go for it!

I think I'm gonna go for it.

Not sure why you asked our opinions , judging by the “likes “ you left or more importantly the likes you didn’t leave , I’d say you had already made your mind up to have one done , good on you , it is your home & adding personal touches is what we all do
Looking forward to the end result 👍

It's amazing the things you find on a van you believed had not been messed with . The other day I discovered it had had paintwork on the garage door and other parts.

Today removing the very last piece of the grey graphic that I believe to be original and I find this under it. It's on the little service hatch door . So I'm going to have to paint that too

Finally the graphics are off .. Still lots of glue but I really need panel wipe to do it properly . Then I need to polish the van again .

I gave it a sort of wash this morning which made a big difference.

While we're waiting for the latest episode here's one I forgot to show Rollingwheels the other night, a friend of mine I stay with and buy & sell occasionally in Belgium, I reckon this would be more up his street

I know I did think afterwards why did I other lol as I know they are a marmite thing.

I've no intentions to change vans again for a long time unless something happens to force that.

So I'm not bothered about affecting re sell value etc as its easily rectified should I want to sell it or if I decide later I don't like the painting .

I think it will look nice and suits me .

The one and only Aston Martin for me.
Yea she's a beauty I've driven it a couple of times and it still has that feeling of king of the hill lol
Cost him around a million euro though 🤣

Very nice indeed that is a lot of money’s worth of car, mine is the poor relation that no one wanted so they were cutting them up for the engine and gearbox. That made them even rarer, funny world we live in. Enjoy your trip 👍

Thank you yes he didn't get much change from a million euro for that car but its money in the bank really 😉 (& believe it or not that's the proper legal number plate for it) lol

So guys my brain has been thinking again..

This will gather much differing opinions I expect but here goes

So the van now looks good , I have to admit the bonnet is not perfect. There's a few patchy bits you can see when the sun hits it. He polished it up yesterday and managed to burn through a bit and had to blow it in which left a visible patch which I had him attempt to polish again , and while it's better I can still see it. Because I know its there.

Now I plan to keep the camper for a while, the bonnet isn't perfect and I'd possibly need to repaint it in the future

So

When here 2 years ago the geordie couple I travelled with had this painted on their bonnet which I really liked

View attachment 1001950View attachment 1001951

And that led me to thinking that if I was ever going to have some art on a van this would be the time to do it as

A) it would draw the eye away from the blemishes on the bonnet
And
B) if I was going to repaint the bonnet in the future anyway then it would matter either way.

So I'd like thoughts either way as I am undecided but I really liked that paint

He does it for the likes and clicks. A bit like YouTube but without getting paid. He's supposedly a Scotsman, but I think he missed out on some financial education unfortunately, and is missing out on a lot of income 😂
