Do you think your motorhome will go the distance….

Recently held a joint 20th Birthday party for our 2004 Nuevo and our son'e 2004 Land Rover Discovery. Don't know about the LR's future but 'Miranda' is just back from a 4,000 mile, 9 country European tour with the only ill effects being a puncture and a binding brake caliper. Now planning next spring's tour of the Low Countries and France - long may 'Miranda' keep going (probably longer than me!). Happy Christmas to all Funsters.

Pretty much although I think it was a site a Chertsey inside the M25 that you could use Ninja skills to get there without entering the LEZ

Put the MH on a small ferry to get to the Chertsey campsite - no ANPR cameras on the Thames! :giggle:

Plus if they change to euro 6 in a year or 2 the next question on here will be” Should I change my euro 6 engine/Motorhome for an electric one because some cities are only allowing electric vehicles in”

Then in 10 years the next question will be”Should I sell my electric Motorhome as some cities are only allowing pedestrians in the city centre”

It’s never ending, there will always be something.

I remember the 90s ” Should I sell my petrol car and buy a diesel all reports say they are much better for the environment”

Or “ Should I buy a woodburner I read they are better and sustainable”

“ Should I get a heat pump and get rid of my fire” Someone did that in the village where we are and during storm Arwen they had to move into a hotel as no electricity for over 8 days in freezing weather.
Yep remember when acid rain was gonna kill us ?

Yeah ..

Oil been running out since I was in primary school too

Political manipulation for one reason only ...to increase wealth

No, just slow workers and, as he's allowed to live in it, cheap camping! 😄
No it's simply because he hasn't been to Morocco before and has no idea if he'll be in tafroute January February or March.

Once he sees the north coast of Morocco he'll be in tafroute quicker than he currently thinks lol .

The more I read on here about new technology Changes/fails the more I’m convinced that this one is a keeper unless my hand is forced on medical/financial grounds in the future👍
The more I see clinical white dental surgeries on wheels disguised as motorhomes ill be buying nothing newer than 2010/11 ever . All that white cabinets etc .. hell no .

Most motorhomes and campers are based on a commercial vehicle chassis, and commercial vehicles are built to cover big miles 200,000 + - they wouldn't sell many if they constantly needed to be in a garage being repaired. They usually have much heavier componants and lower power output then equivalent size engined cars, so less stressed engines.
The other side of the coin is that a motorhome is always 'loaded' unlike a van which might be travelling empty or lightly loaded much of the time, so wear on suspension and wheel bearings is greater.
If buying secondhand, I'd prefer a motorhome which has covered say 8,000 miles a year and been used (and serviced) regularly to one which had spent much of it's life standing still in one spot with only 2 service stamps 'because it hadn't done the miles to need more' . I can almost see the rust underneath and the condensation building up inside the engine and fuel tank.

** Just did an on-line check and the old 1994 Hymer which I sold perhaps 10 years ago is still on the road with well over 100,000 miles on it's 2.5 Fiat diesel engine.
** Same with a Rapido I passed on to a new owner four years ago - that's approaching 100,000 miles on the clock

2007 peugeot boxer.
2.2 diesel.
Oil and all filters changed every year since weve had it ( just over 3 years).
Brake pads, discs, dampers, bumpstops, brake fluid all done at home.
Hopefully she should keep going a bit longer.
