Hi Folks,
My son has a theory about car/vehicle ownership - which I agree with.
It goes like this.
When you park, do you lock up and just walk off, or do you lock up and as you walk off, you turn and look at your car/vehicle and 'check it out'? If you just walk away - you don't deserve to own it. If you look back, you clearly are a happy owner. When driving through a town, do you take a sneaky look in shop windows to see your reflection? When up on a castle or bridge, do you track down the car park so you can see your vehicle from a different angle - and perhaps take a photo?
I would go so far as to add, in your photo collection - online or hard copies, are there lots of shots of your Motorhome, or just the places you visit?

What do you think?

D

Seen 'walkaways' in supermarket carparks.
One bloke and his family walked away without a glance.... His N/S rear door was half open.
I left him to it.

It's a lump of metal I live in, and you're telling me I don't appreciate it.

Agree 100%

It is for getting to beautiful places and living in and looking at the beauty(ies).

Reading some of these posts I wonder whether the posters sit outside facing their motorhomes to admire them. :giggle:

Sorry if I wasn't clear - you look back to admire your vehicle.
I once watched a guy with a big red Italian sports car. He parked up, then walked off without a backwards glance - he was one who did not appreciate it.

D
maybe he just appreciates he has it, uses it for what it is and feels confident enough that he doesnt have to look back.

I dont think I ever look back, except if I dont hear the alarm/lock kick in

How do you know he didn't appreciate it?

Sorry if it offends some, but I have never thought of motors as anything other than a means of getting about, scratches and dents of no consequence, that's why our last motorhome had to go, couldn't stand the worry of damageing it, just jump in and go, had my old pickup 12 years now, never been washed never mind polished, showing a bit of rust now , so what, it'll probably see me out.

Couldn’t agree more.

I can’t own a vehicle without loving it. I love looking at mine as much as I love driving it. I‘m not interested in all these plastic rubbish boxes, that are in people’s life temporarily, which are just bought and sold to earn, money, or be a whim. It’s just a sign of modern life. Have it because I can, and don’t care for it.
Everything I own I care for, and that includes what I drive.

If you have a transit, I guess that you look back to make sure that someone hasn’t already nicked it…..
……that was a joke by the way

I do look back at my 1947 AJS but only to see whether I've finally managed to stop the oil leaks.

I know you are lying. You couldn’t own such a thing without caring for it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a weirdo that gives vehicles names, but I have to feel something for it, and so, I care for it.
Most don’t care for it, they just use it.

Did it twice yesterday, I even took a photo!
The first in Hay-on-Wye and the second whilst admiring the view when driving Autocar's test route.

Yes, you're quite right. I even enjoy visualising the factory guys assembling it.

don’t see much point looking back, the mirrors won’t be folded in, the doors won’t be locked, the roof won’t be up.

Nice, very nice. These are exactly the type of cars I mean when I say battery cars have no soul and never will.

I completely agree, but every day transport needs to change, I’m pretty sure that Terry242 just like myself doesn’t drive his 7 every day as a it doesn’t suit everyday life.

So a balance is needed, my 7 is and will ever be my love, but my next car purchase will be electric, don’t expect to love it but it’s the way to go.

Don‘t plan to stop blatting on a Sunday morning anytime soon.

Aye electric is the future. No doubt they will be green and efficient, just like my fridge and my dishwasher. Not exactly fun though. I’ll carry on riding motorbikes until either I can no longer ride or motorbikes are no longer available. Then I’ll probably have to use a battery vehicle. Hopefully by the I won’t care about it.

Been looking back at both my car and van for all the years I've owned them.

15 years for the car and 12 for the motorhome.

SWMBO often asks if I could have any car in a parking lot, what would it be and I always answer the same, my blue convertible as it's awesome.
