Dishwasher tabs in loo of chemical treatment for toilet cassette.

Have been using this for several years, works very well, all solids reduced to water.

This is interesting, thanks for the suggestion - to me it has the appeal of the much vaunted bio laundry tabs but without the element of scepticism they give me.

But it's a very big container for a van the size of ours, do you decant some to take with you or what?

Have you seen they also sell the stuff in sachet form which must have convenience benefits size-wise. Have you considered them? I can only find them in a £50 size, which I regard as quite a big investment in a product I've not yet experienced.

Interested to hear that (and pleased) as we’ve just gone down that route and have yet to take it on a trip. Thanks.
I've only recently moved over to it and the trip a couple of weeks ago was the first time it was used for more than a weekend.

Have been extremely happy with it and the only helpful experience I can share is that the liquids bottle does need frequent emptying and I would suggest checking it often until you have a feel for how long it will last. There's no point me sharing my findings as there are too many variables from the size of the Trelino you bought to how much tea you drink!

The only other thing worth mentioning is that I opened one of the supplied bags and shook it open (I don't know how to describe this really, but when you sort of 'snap' the bag downwards to fill it with air) and (thankfully!!!!) noticed that in doing so I'd managed to split the seal at the bottom of the bag .

I've done an experiment with (much cheaper) supermarket bin liners which I double bag and they work perfectly and I find them easier to use than the supplied ones.

A final tip is that I put the roll of bags into the bottom of the 'bin', then line the bin with a fresh bag. This means the new bags are to hand when you come to empty the old one.

Anyway, that's enough of a thread derail. Back to discussing various methods of breaking down the solids in a cassette toilet....

Or be like the QEII too posh to poo

I usedto fit bathrooms so a bit of smell emptying the SOG cassette is nothing to what I've encountered in some homes.
Some of you may think your s&!!t smells like roses, but believe me it doesn't.

I get exactly where you are coming from, ie, I've been to properties as a Firefighter, where we've had to wipe the soles of our boots...............on the way out. 🤢 🤷‍♂️

At one shout, two of my colleagues had to be hosed down, as their Fire Kit was covered in human excrement due to crawling round in smoke wearing Breathing Apperatus, searching for persons reported. Everything had to be bagged and sent of for decontamination.

Jock. :)

Because they stink outside, well if the filter is not used, I try to check for SOGs on neighbouring vans before parking up.
not pleasant if it is facing your seating area, and the ones you can't see, vent on roof are just the right height to waft into an over garage bedroom window 🤮
think they are a great idea though.
I thought they were a good idea.....then realised the vent would be under my awning 🤢, saved a few bob by not installing one...

We use Kidel tablets brought from Spain and have done for the last 6yrs they contain no bleach just chlorine and a cleaning agent. I think they cost approximately €1.99 for 40 tablets and I put 2 in at a time. They don’t mask the smell but break done No2 really well and there’s no calcium build up, after rinsing out the toilet is spotless inside

Kidel Pastillas Activas Multiusos:
The active Ingredient is calcium hypochlorite. Calcium hypochlorite is very much a chlorine bleach and would not be welcome on many campsites.

Sorry. :-(

Sorry to take so long to reply. Thank you, that is really useful. Certainly agree about emptying liquids frequently!

For those who use Formil Bio for their cassette do you use neat or dilute, and if the latter by how much?

About half a capful ,(or a good squeeze if no screw cap) neat, but with a tiny amount of water already in the cassette, close the blade then splosh it all around. Job done. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)
