DIESEL 65p a GALLON

I run my plane on Tesco fuel, especially when you get vouchers for 5p/10p a litre off!

Bet there’s a few surprised looks rolling into Tesco station with that ??

I’m guessing you only need 10 lts at a time as well ?

10ltrs at a time - I wish! I have 4x20 litre jerrycans.

Remember Pulling into a fIlling station with near empty tank with the first R-V. Not long after we got it Imported. That`s when I found out the original America Owner has specified a long range tank. Deep breath, It cut out at £100. So I went in and they reset the pumps. It took another £96. That was in 1995. Handy though coming back from Spain, We filled to the brim before we got the return ferry, BIG saving back then, got nearly the whole summer out of the French Diesel.

I was told by a delivery driver of heating oil it’s near enough the same as pump diesel.

A tank full just needs a dash of parrafin?
Heating oil is totally different to Diesel, gas oil which he probably meant has a traser of red dye which is injected to denote the tax exemption it's will cause issues with injection systems and you would be breaking the law from HMRC point of view

Does anyone remember that a lot of drovers had a shot of Redex then and for those with 2 strokers a shot of 2 stroke oil and the smell of Castrol R
I was wanting the smell of castor R in my nostrils again so bought a litre and put a teaspoon in the carb of my lawn mower. Bloody thing hasn't worked since!

castor

Back in 1961 in what some call the good old days Petrol was 3 shillings and 6 pence a gallon which is 17.5p today but we were that well off that many a time I could only afford a half gallon just enough to get to work and back. Today I go in and put £70 into the motorhome and don't think twice. How times have changed

On decimalisation day in 1971 petrol was 33p per litre and this guy in a Jaguar came in and asked for “three gallons and keep the change”. Thanks a bundle.

HMRC aside, he said it would work with older pumps.

Let’s face it the older Bosch pumps would push cooking oil through them ?

I thought you were only allowed to have 10 lts at a time and transport it.

I maybe wrong of course ?

I think one 10ltr and one 5ltr, but maybe assumes plastic containers. Mine are steel, and I just replaced the seals so I’m happy they are safe. Jerry cans worked fine during a world war. To be fair Tesco have, on occasion, rushed out of the shop to see what I am doing. They have always accepted steel containers.

AND you got quadruple Green Shield stamps??

... And some of us remember when a young woman fuel pump attendant did all the work for you.

That was my desire for a job when I was about 11.. .. That or a bus conductor!!!!!! My old mum despaired as she was the original Mrs Hyacynth Bucket.... Luckily my aspirations grew with age. :)

50 years ago I was between jobs and filled in by working at a petrol station. I was in a mini skirt, tight jumper and flowing blonde locks. I was expected to fill up the cars, clean the windscreen and offer to pump up tyres. If only things were the same....that is the mini skirt and flowing blonde locks.

It does.

My Mum (RIP) raised my pocket money when petrol went from 4'6 to 4'9 so that I could continue to fill up the tank of my Triumph Tiger Cub!

Gordon

She insisted that I didn't get a job until I left education because I'd be working for the rest of my life: how true.
It’s a fact that mums are the wisest people on earth mine knows everything

Sounds iffy... whats parrafin for????? Maybe to get rid o red dye???

Loo blue works and so does old engine oil. Ask the boys who drove to Greece and beyond

I can remember going to the local garage with two empty milk bottles to get fuel for my field bike. Think it cost 2 Bob.
No elf n safety in those days.

Should have put it in the fuel not directly into the carb wash it out you will be back to square one. Still smell around my area as the boy racers use it in their bikes
