damp repairs to kontiki

Been reading a few of the articles from obviously skilled, patient people that take the time to do the job right. Would have made a great series on YT instead of the usual rubbish. Well done and good luck for 2023.
cheers for the compliment, i've done the best that i can do but its not perfect, some things i could have done better as they were first attempts so not the best, but its still better than it was.
i did a schoolboy error with my worktop, i ordered a 20mm thick oak worktop and stored it in my garage on its side as i was stuck for space, needless to say the worktop has cupped so i now have it clamped flat between battens to straighten it back out. luckily it isn't too bad but still its one of several little cock ups made, live and learn.

been plodding along with the rebuild, got the kitchen area on the go and put 4 way stretch carpet in the cab area.
worktop will be going on this weekend and reupholstering is being organised.
once all the kitchen is done i've basically got a snag list to complete, paint shower room, refit the awning and the old girl is pretty much finished. so we hope to be motorhoming in the near future.

finally got the worktop cut and fitted, got a couple of cupboard doors and a drawer to make, connect sink, tap and cooker, vinyl tiles on the wall, extractor fan, then onto my 1 mile snag list.
never thought i'd get this far, its been a long slog.

having that worktop finished and installed makes a big difference and also boosts my motivation to smash a load of work out, just gotta keep pluggin away at small goals as the whole job has been quite daunting and several times i felt like throwing in the towel.
one step closer to actually having a useable van now

Stick with it you know it will be worth it the first time you are away with a smug smile and a drink 🥃 in your hand 👍

Well finally its finished, (well, finished enough to actually use) took the old girl away for a week and she was 95% great. the toilet flush didn't work but i've fixed that now, also the oak worktop had some warpage going on so kinda regretting that choice, but apart from that the cooker works great, the boiler works great, the shower was amazing and the solar and 200ah battery never dropped below 65% even through pretty crap weather.
its been a very hard 18 months with lots of hidden surprises but it is now paying off.
got a few minor tweaks to do, storage ideas, extra power sockets, etc, but apart from that the old girl is once again a motorhome, (without leaks)

Well, it's looking great and the knowledge you gained by rebuilding it means you can trust it. Enjoy it!

Not many people wil know their MH as well as you do it's likely to pay off when things need attention

cheers guys, yeah i know every millimetre of that behemoth, (apart from the engine) i'm shit with engines, always end up with leftover nuts and bolts 😂.
