Continental Vans Banned?

What’s the slapping of the head thing for.?

For not being satisfied with my efforts to validate the original statement, for not being *rsed to call them yourself while also suggesting that someone else does so.

People have rang them and posted their response.

It’s great isn’t it when people can be bothered to add some positive information to a thread.

Please read posts #42 & #45.

Well done that man. Good to see that some people don’t join in the speculation and are prepared to get to the bottom of things.

I do not understand this idea that a door opposite your door invades privacy, when there are windows all along both MHs. which allow anyone to look in.

Even if you do not like someone being able to look into the door, then shut it or hang a curtain.

If you want real privacy then wildcamp. Oh no! - a hiker might pass by the door!

Then stay home and draw the curtains.

Thought I would have a wee look

Honestly... They look about as 'cool' as Wallace of Wallace and Gromit fame
If you try to be 'cool' that is very un-cool
They just look like wannabe new age travellers who are too touchy feely to do it for them selves

What they need are some nice vintage Harleys to turn up with their tents. Open pipes should be cool enough to wake them up in a morning.

Some sites do turn business away if the vehicle doesn’t ‘fit’.

I was browsing search for sites the other day and came across one (Ettie’s Field) which actually listed which vehicles would be allowed to stay... the unit had to be ‘cool’. You were advised to phone before booking if in any doubt as to whether you would be classed as cool enough to grace their site.

Pretentious twats!

It’s a site for snowflakes.....:D

Bet none of them take a pallet load of Brown Ale to share with their mates !

The club that I joined actually organises club breakfasts and meals, bands and entertainment in the evenings and prizes, movies, competitions and days out. They don't half do it in style.

I am, at the moment wearing crocs and beige shorts. If it gets colder later, on with the shell suit as well.
Off to the charity shops at Jaywick soon for a good day out.

Would it be ok if I had a hab door on the correct side, which I havn't, but treated near neighbours to a view of my bare arse through the window each morning as I came out of the shower to dress. After all I would not be impinging on their privacy or personal space.

You will have to phone the site and ask ......... because I am not going to :D2

Well two sites we won't be welcome to visit.

One site we did go to had a similar planning condition about backing into the pitches but they just put us at the end of a row. Job done.

Have to agree.

I'm sure there are loads of sites with a criteria for staying, that appeal to different life styles. Adult only? No dogs? Naturist?

Likewise, there are lots of sites that like everyone parked with the doors facing the same way. Guess there must be a market for this as well.

Personally I'd never choose to stay on this type of site. So I'm not their market. Actually, in a scrape and having the choice of this or the Naturist site, I'd have to seriously consider the weather :D
Weather or not you'd risk it? :D

From another forum

Just phoned "Home farm caravan park Burnham, Somerset" They have now Banned all Continental Caravans and Motorhomes if they have doors on the .Offside (Drivers Side)
Quite bloody right too! We don't want to park beside and be shown up by a van that has the best build quality you will ever see, is winterized, has a double floor for hiding the rolex, doesn't leak, has loads of payload, has the steering wheel on the wrong side, never mind the hab door and has wealthy (snobby) owners who look down on our poor offerings. I thank you!:rofl::rofl::rofl:

We don't look down on you, we just patronise you .......................................... you do know what patronise means don't you? :D2

We were staying in our German caravan last week, at the CCC site in Keswick (it's a normal to small sized caravan). The warden came over whilst we were bbq-ing and said "please can you move all your things to the other side (non-door) of your caravan". And she stood there until we'd moved the few bits of stuff that were out. It turned out that the people next to us had complained about a lack of privacy. This seemed a somewhat ridiculous request. As Keswick is inclined to flooding, they insist that caravans face the 'road' so we couldn't just spin the caravan around.

We largely ignored the wardens request for the rest of the week but used the grass at the rear of our caravan where we could, simply to keep the peace. Due to the normal lakedistrict weather, we weren't sitting out much!

In this particular instance, it was just a narky neighbour and a narky warden. We discussed this matter with another warden, who also thought it was ridiculous. There were also other m/h's and caravans parked up the same, without any issues. It's a campsite Oh Please!. We didn't speak with the people next to us, and they gained almost nothing as our caravan and awning still faced them.

We've sent a complaint to the CCC, as the whole experience wasn't pleasant.

We used a CMC near Cromer a couple of weeks ago.

Given a drawing of the site and how they like you parked to the peg.

It was either front near side or rear offside.
Wardens etc couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant.

As we are in a Euro the grey waste drain and water are on the wrong side of the road.

I simply turned and faced the wrong way.
Nothing was said as all good.

This was our first visit to a CMC site and hope others are as good if we use them :)
