Hello everyone!

I’m a retired person living in Spain, and I’m contemplating opening a business to support other motorhome enthusiasts during their visits here. Naturally, I need to conduct some research before making a decision.

If my business idea materializes, it could significantly benefit many individuals from other countries who travel to Spain with their motorhomes.

I’m curious if polls or surveys could be posted on the Motorhome Fun site. If that’s possible, could you please guide me on how to do it?

Thank you very much!

Could you elaborate on the products and services that may bring ‘significant benefits’ and why Spain only, why not all European destinations. Do you have a working cost model? Looking forward to hearing more.

How many would be prepared to pay for advice on routes, sites, stopovers, ferries, Insurance, low emission zones, whatever, compared to how many might be prepared to pay for help and advice in an emergency, say, a breakdown, illness , or accident.

There could be some value in such a service, especially if the people offering the service were fluent in Spanish, . . . . . they would have to be, . . . . . . wouldn't they ?

I must be missing the point!!
5 years ago when I first visited Spain in a Van….. I thoroughly enjoyed all the fact finding and planning.
A big special thanks to Big Tam Northeraider👍👍🇪🇸🤗

We already have a pretty good network of Spanish residents in Spain who are willing to help out as and when needed. We also have a Spanish born member who is also willing to help anyone in need.

Put a bit more information on here as to what your ideas are, please.

If it's a money making venture, then unless we can negotiate a meaningful and exclusive Funster discount, you'd need to pay to advertise here.

Either way, if it's a business that will genuinely help Funsters then doing some general research here is fine. But you should run it by me first. Cheers

Also Catalan and, less so Basque.

My guess would be some sort of respite place where you could go when having problems - mechanical, social, political - whatever for an English speaking local who might be able to help 🤷🏻

To find out the best direction I asked if surveys/polls are allowed.

The poster is just asking a question he obviously wants to do a bit market research to see if his ideas are viable may be he will let us know what he intends to do in his poll.🤷🏻
Exactly! I am not sure why it wasn’t clear. I asked if polls/surveys could be posted on the site to research a bit what motorhomers need the most. And Spain is because I live here, and my not be able to start International Corporation from the very beginning:-)

It might be helpful if the OP could give us a few ideas of what he/she means as there’s such a wealth of free info on here. We’re a bit stingy unless we love you already :giggle:
I was looking for ideas, I guess this is not a right place, sorry!

Never asked about any advertising, it seems that my question of “is it allowed to post surveys/polls?” was not straightforward enough, my sincere apologies!

I suggest you drop Jim a message to run your ideas past him.

The forum certainly does allow polls, but check with Jim first if it's a commercial venture

More power to his wee wheels, I say.
Tourists are just that; tourists, regardless of whether they fly to a place or drive.
And; relative to the subject of this site, many like to know about places to stopover, the amenities and facilities there as well as safety matters. Some also like to know about nearby places to eat, drink, meet locals, launder their clothing and to visit.
Maybe navigable (scenic) routes too.

Payment/income for such a service is the challenge.
Everyone (in sufficient numbers at least) seems to have baulked years ago when some sites charged for info.
That gave rise to the OTAs, the booking agents and so, instead of paying for info, the cost is now up to 30% per booking, with some booking agents and at least 15% with any of the well-known ones. That's % per booking.

Avoiding paid-for services is like buying a cheap tool, You pay little and often. Paying for info, you have it for each visit, as a basis if not actually permanently accurate.

I wish the OP well and I hope he'll include the Catalan region in France and the foothills of the Pyrenees, which, I think, is a lovely area. I'll assist too if possible whether that be with passing on my experience in doing similar in another country some years ago (still relevant), as well as with software, if necessary.

I'm not writing about a business thing so I hope my post won't upset Jim. 'All hands to the pump' is the expression that springs to mind.
