Complaining, Moaning - what did they expect?

I would guess more than private companies. Police, fire crews, bin crews, bereavement officials, care home staff, park rangers, tip staff, local town parking officials, speed camera van operators, unemployment benefits officials, crematorium staff, cemetery staff, social workers. Shall I continue? These people didn’t have the option of sitting at home on 80% of their wage unlike private companies.

Out of those:
Bin crews - here contracted out
Park rangers - many parks closed
Tip staff - tips closed
Parking officials - hardly any traffic
Speed cameras - ditto

Maybe there, all of the above working here. As I said it’s more private companies sitting about claiming 80%.
You know the ones that continually have a go at public employees.

you lot still complaining ..............................🙈🙉🙊

With tips here you need an appointment. Arrive 30 minutes before and be prepared to wait up to an hour. That's the good news, the bad is no appointments available until end of September and not taking them for October. So much for public service for which we pay £2700 per year.

I bet the Local Authorities will be making no redundancies..... or going bust like many businesses

Isn't it are own responsibility to look after our own toileting needs or is that someone else's responsibility?
so you can't go out then without taking the motorhome?

Do what my friend does & ring/email that he will be reducing his 3600£ yearly payment by x amount for them not providing the services that are required. Worked every time for him in mid-devon & they ring after and ask "is there anything else":giggler:

I did read some while back that one had put in to the government for voluntary administration or something like that ? no idea what one ?

Wouldn't be a bad idea if they all went bust...

most of them are already broke and if they were they would be insolvent.

so you can't go out then without taking the motorhome?

Why can't you go out without a motorhome? When we go to felixstowe we accept that toilets may not be open so we go to the toilet before we go and stay until we need the toilet again. This applies to any place we go, not really rocket science is it?

Do you think you have a right to have a toilet at any place you fancy going to?
Babies need their toileting needs taken care of, as adults we should be past that stage and if we know that toilets are closed then you don't go.

so we’re back to self isolating again 🤕

Yours are crap. Here put rubbish in the car or trailer, drive to tip, arrive at tip, put rubbish in correct skips for recycling, get back in car, go home. Not difficult is it?

When I joined the Fire Service in 1985 we had 2400 front line firemen. Now 850. Just over one third. Go on, you keep crying the poor tale about how hard it is in the private sector. But and it’s a big but. Who are you going to call when your house is on fire with your family inside? Who are you going to call when your house is burgled? Who you going to call when you need a social worker to help your elderly relatives?
People like you make people like me sick. Bleating about public employees but still expect them to be there as soon as you need them. You know what? We know. Yes we know what you think of us, but we still turn out and sometimes we risk everything to help people like you that really do not give a tish about us. Why? Because deep down we also know that at that moment you can’t survive without us. We don’t want you thanking us. Most of the time we don’t really want to talk to you. We don’t care whether you think we did a good job or not. We know, and our crew mates know and that’s good enough.

Since there are all these problems with LAs, aren't er lucky we're taking back control.

My complaints aren't about the emergency services but I think you know that.

We have a 'crisis' that needs work at a local level and it needs existing public services - toilets, extra bins and carparks open - not closed - with wardens handing out tickets.

Your swipe at the private sector - where were folks told to go when public toilets were closed? - shops, pubs, restaurants... private sector - many of which have or are going bust through no fault of their own

I didn't want to mention travellers pitching up but LAs seem to find bins and toilets for them - and no parking tickets

Son in law popped into a Mcdonalds the other day to get a coffee and have a pee to be told the toilets were closed to the public.

Had to go to Costa it cost twice the price for the cup of coffee but the loo's were open.
And the coffee in Costa is much better.

Working outside is a safe option, toilets aren't a very safe option for workers so if you want to protect your staff what do you allow?

It is near impossible to 'look after our own toileting needs' if there are no toilets? I'm not talking about motorhomers specifically as we're better equipped than most but anyone visiting anywhere by car, public transport, or on foot is going to need a toilet. My town closed all public toilets long ago - nothing to do with the CV - and encouraged local businesses to offer theirs. Apart from the fact that there's little indication from the outside of those that do so there is likely to be embarrassment caused by entering an establishment and asking to use their facilities. I must be missing something: why does offering public toilet facilities have to cost money? If they're not self-financing start charging an amount that ensures they become so. Car parking is a money-spinner for LAs so why should toilets provision be any different?

I don't agree with the suggestion that litter bins should be provided. It isn't difficult to take it home - after all you brought some of it with you.

I agree but some of the litter will be beer cans and bottles - 'The lads' decide to go to the park or beach and take some beers - cheapest is a multipack 6, 12,18 or 24 - 1 or 2 packs. At the end of the 'session' maybe 24 or more empty cans or bottles - and no bag.
The answer?
Stop selling multipacks or
Deposits on cans and bottles - if 'The lads' are too p155ed or can't be bothered to pick them up someone else will - we used to

That`s, all very fine for those who have nice strong Bladder and Bowel. However many who are "post operative", can have issues, even after months or years. They still need to shop under some circumstances. Not everything is available "online". A 20 mile drive to the nearest Large City (and the 20 miles back) is just the start. We have been "asked" to visit Opticians, for a routine examination. They have no facilities, never have had (except for staff). The nearby Public Loo`s are closed. Now that is just one example (fortunately it can be postponed, but some item`s cannot!).

Our Bin Men have been working throughout, however the "tip" is closed for acceptance of some items, and there is a queuing system for anything they will accept. So "fly" tipping is on the increase. We dont need traffic wardens though (non essential). And very large numbers of L-A Staff are equally not essential the vast majority in "Admin". Front line staff are always first in the queue for the "chop", but the back offices just expand exponetially?.
Get a skip on your drive
Some round here have, I understand though, that prices are double what they where before the Chinese Virus?.

That only applies if you still have the lower abdominal strength. After certain "procedures" it becomes a case of "when you gotta go .YOU GOTTA GO". And even Going before you leave, does not alter that, I have "mates" who are now forced to wear "discreet" pads whenever they leave the house after having had surgery to save their lives, and one who has the "bag".

I had a bag for 3 years after a bowl cancer op, absolutely no problem going out for extended periods.
I agree some people need toilets at a moments notice but in these times if you know the toilets are shut you don't go there.
Toilets are a high risk area for covid unless constantly cleaned like the one at Frinton on Sea which is modern, airy and manned, most are a bit grim so why would you want to risk your health and use them?

Most of the large supermarkets have toilets and they are generally very good.

Yes.
Especially any type of food establishment.
Sometimes you do not have the choice of not going somewhere that is when you have to plan around either where toilets are and are they open,or taking your own.
Fortunately my wife has a radar key for use in the uk.

most down in the south and south east have limited opening hours and queues are 50 or 60 long even before the virus.

Yes,fortunately here most public ones are open as are all bars and restaurants.
