Comfortmatic gearbox fiat ducato issues

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site but thought you may give me some clue to my fiat ducato 2017
with a comfortmatic gear box, i have a warning light and a message on dashboard saying no
gears available? HELP PLEASE

Possibly a bit far, there is a guy in Scotland we use and is top notch. He is a fully trained fiat master technician, the comformatic dot oil is included in his 2 year service or £90 plus vat on it’s own, I’ll be getting my timing belt done by him this year.

He mobile and will be both soon as he’s opening a workshop just south of Glasgow, he covers the North of England too as he was over Newcastle before coming to me in Dumfries. It wouldn’t do any harm to contact him and if you need a place to arrange a meet for the service then my drive is available so he can carry out the service, either that or you could arrange a few days away and meet him somewhere.

Well thanks very much for the Offer of your Drive & the info.... will give him a call & weigh up how far it is to travel, pity we didn't know about him in 2024 as we went up to Glencoe & Edinburgh in Sept

Hi Has the clutch fluid been replaced every year . This is essential as can lead to sludge and affect the gear changing. First place to look is your service schedule and receipts.

This is an interesting suggestion. Is it essential to replace it every year.

There is company called planet gears 01773262440 I spoke to him two years ago and I think he’s some what of specialist. I’ve had it twice in three years. I just put it into neutral waited 10 minutes and turned the engine back on and it reset. Just be careful of some garages, all you’ll end up with new gearbox and clutch. There are many things that can go wrong most are simple if I remember there are two types of fluid clutch fluid and another fluid that works the robot arm. Remember it’s not an automatic box it has a type of robot arm that changes the gear. Regards nick

Not true. Clutch fluid does not need replaced every year. Hopefully the ignition switch on/off tips helped because I have had it twice and both times it worked.

Yeh I would agree with that I believe there is no set time frame for clutch fluid changes. I’ve been told or read there is another hydraulic fluid that moves the robot arm. Regards nick

Hi had my fluids done at AM in P after 7 yrs and 40,000 miles you could tell the difference the gear change was quicker and smoother due to resetting the kiss point.

Had major problems with out comfort matic gear box. Been in and out of Sherwood Fiat and spent £7000 on ecu, turbo, actuator, sensors and wiring harness.
It would go in to neutral and do nothing until fault is cleared. So many conflicting views and diagnoses as doenst seem to be a real specialist out there!

Sorry to hear of your issues, out of curiosity did you have the comfortmatic oil changed regularly?

Been there, done that and now recovered.
Adams Morrey Portsmouth definitely best advice.
Sign up as a member and read through. It’s not all bad as some will have you believe. Just poor maintenance in most cases

Well I for one is going to have my fluids changed every two years, also I can call in at uncle Lenny and get some electrical fiddly jobs done, dump camera, TMV, and a load of others I’ve forgotten, I need to keep a list

Did they do anything to the Comfortmatic system to try to resolve the problem?. The list seems to be nothing to do with the gearbox going in to neutral.

Yes, gear selection sensors and wiring but nothing seemed to resolve permanently. The whole experience has been very complicated and Fiat had specialist come in to diagnose.
