Hi everyone, I'm new to this site but thought you may give me some clue to my fiat ducato 2017
with a comfortmatic gear box, i have a warning light and a message on dashboard saying no
gears available? HELP PLEASE

As other have said. Become a member and read some of the many comformatic threads. You could well save the joining fee many times over. Other than that Adams and Morley in Portsmouth are the trusted comformatic dealers I believe and that's who I used before we changed vans.

Be warned you may need a stiff drink whilst reading them:xsmile:. Good luck hope you get sorted.
Recently I had issues with my comfortmatic gearbox as a result of contamination in the master/slave cylinder. Had no clutch at all. Had to be recovered to the garage by the AA. Cost £3,800 which fortunately the warranty paid for. The difference in drive quality was amazing. Had it done at Adam’s and Morley in Portsmouth.

Hi Has the clutch fluid been replaced every year . This is essential as can lead to sludge and affect the gear changing. First place to look is your service schedule and receipts.
Not true. Clutch fluid does not need replaced every year. Hopefully the ignition switch on/off tips helped because I have had it twice and both times it worked.

Guess I was lucky I took the van out yesterday and all was fine
I had that a few times..... 2 times it wouldn't drive and had it recovered to Adam Morey ( Southampton ) £700, when it happened again, due to this website, took it to Portsmouth..... fine ever since !!!

Our 2019 Fiat 2.3 150 handbook states check actuator fluid every 2 years change at 4. Had Adams Morey do the 4 year change, had the cam belt done at the same time. Will get them to change the fluid at the 6 year service.

Changed mine early this year. Simon at AM told me that you need your Comfortmatic fluids changed and re-bled every two years. I asked him, how often does he change his. He said annually.

If I had the time and the money, I would go for annually, but I wouldn't let anyone except AM do the work, and they aint cheap, so biennially it is.

I am more than happy that I got rid of our comformatic. We had the van for over 4 years with no problems. But I was not happy with the potential small things that were costing people an absolute fortune to repair and the uncertainty this gearbox gave me with people who actually know what to do to repair it very limited.
Good riddance to it

It's not just an oil change, they hook it up to a computer and re calibrate the clutch,I think you'll find everyone who has had it done thinks it's well worth the money.
Correct Richard. If every 12 month change is good enough for Simon at Adams Morey it’s good enough for me ‘cos he’s got one.

You've probably already done this but try turning the engine off and trying again.

If that doesn't work, disconnect the cab battery, wait 30 seconds and then reconnect it. This will force the transmission control unit (TCU) to reboot. But if you have a batterymaster or some other device to top up the cab battery from the leisure batteries you will need to disconnect this first.
If your dot 4 clutch fluid has gone black and thick, switching off/on etc will not cure it. The actuators cannot move quickly enough for the ecu, hence it throws up the fault messages. All fluids don't go black hence this method works sometimes.

I shall be travelling down to Adams Morey in Portsmouth, after talking to Simon there he was very helpful / Knowledgeable knowing what he was talking about & even though it's quite a distance will make a trip out of it 😀 👍

Do you mind if I ask where you’re from when you say it’s quite a distance

We travel from Plymouth to AM. Given our local (Fiat)) dealer told me when I booked ours in for its first (2 year) service as I had only done 4600 miles it didn’t need servicing and when I insisted it would be serviced when I asked how was the actuator fluid I got a blank stare.

We have it done while we’re in Portsmouth before we get the boat for Santander.
The first time we had it done the fluid was very dark but no shrapnel in it :whew: This time it looked normal.
I must say the gear change is so much smoother than original which was six years old. Richard rb62 says the same so deffo worth having it done imo.

The West Midlands

Possibly a bit far, there is a guy in Scotland we use and is top notch. He is a fully trained fiat master technician, the comformatic dot oil is included in his 2 year service or £90 plus vat on it’s own, I’ll be getting my timing belt done by him this year.
