Rally Chester Food Festival

Arriving 1 or 2pm Thursday.

P.s. lateral flow tests available from GOV website with just name and address and very brief questionnaire.

It's a request not a requirement.
Nothing to get knickers in a twist about.
If you have, or can get, a box of free NHS tests - just do one the day before you arrive.
All they're doing is trying to prove & box tick that they have done everything possible.

Turn up, have a good time & don't worry...
...you are vaccinated aren't you ;) .

It says “politely request”, there was nothing about proving it. They ask we don’t come if you have symptoms, they are trusting people to be responsible. A lateral flow test is an indicator. Let’s all do our bit to stop the spread.

Go to one of the walk in test sites.
Results sent to phone or tablet within hrs.

Sorry to ask an obvious question, probably with an obvious answer.
It will be out first rally.

Will we need to be self contained for the complete period? Ie no black or grey disposal and no water?

Not really a problem , we have a spare cassette etc.

There will be fresh water available and black disposal but grey waste is a case of bucket and chuck it.

There will be a tank(s) similar to this in the Funsters area for black waste together with a temporary not for drinking water tap near to it, it is usually alongside the large cabin toilet trailer.

Carol Janine

Due to a change in circumstance we won't be able to arrive on Thursday. We are hoping that we may able to get there early Friday evening, but if not it would be Saturday morning.

Thanks

Anthony

Hi the only way it can be done is to get in touch with Briony at Chester Food Festival by e mail and ask for a refund, unfortunately tickets can't be transferred..

Due to the deterioration in Val's knees (she's just been put on the waiting list for two replacements), we've hired a scooter from Chester Shopmobility for our stay. We didn't envisage needing an electric hook up when we originally booked, but wondered if there was some way we could charge the scooter overnight ? Will there be a spare power outlet in the marquee or anywhere ? TIA.

Hi sorry to hear this,, we are not having a marquee this year at the show, I am not sure how the charging for the scooter will work but you can plug in my electric if this will help and I'm sure others on electric would help as well but I'm not sure how it works but what we can do to help we will.
You could e mail Briony at Chester Food Festival and ask if she has any ideas.

The black waste tanks are a challenge. If you can lean over and hit the spot whilst avoiding splash back you'll do better than I ever have!

Anybody not familiar with these ground level tanks be careful to get the right hole as some are just mouldings that go right through to the ground and it wouldn’t be the first time 😧

Thanks Carol, hopefully it will just plug in via an extension lead ? I'll see if I can get more info from Shopmobility.
Thanks, Graeme.

With Chester getting close there's a couple of things to let those attending know about...

First, as mentioned in Briony's email, there is a one way system in operation in Chester at the moment, and it's causing lots of tail backs, I would strongly recommend you approach Chester Racecourse from either, the A55/A483 junction (You will still encounter traffic this way but it will be minimal), or from the A494/A458 Junction which completely misses all the roadworks.

Secondly, if there's enough interest i can put together a laminated map of the City with the walk that I did a few years ago and some info on Pubs/Restaurants/Bike Rides and Tourist attractions in and around ?

See you all soon
Cheers Red, Chris and Bannock

We have not got a lot of time before Chester for those interested in having one of Reds maps I would get your names down quickly.
Of course we will be able to give you information on most things about Chester as your questions crop up.

I came on your walk, it was brilliant so I'd absolutely appreciate such a laminate.

Yes please RedFrame , we’d like one. I’ve just seen Carol at Malvern and she said about it. We’ve never been to Chester so it would be brilliant and we love walking.

RedFrame would love a copy, especially the pubs ;) Somehow managed to be with the wrong group and missed Janine s pub crawl last time we were there.

I think this is the website that I used for the pub crawl 2 years ago -

Yes please to the map too... or if it could be emailed I'm happy to print out and laminate one for myself and some for you to share out? We're not arriving until Friday morning though.
