Rally Chester Food Festival

Our first time in Chester so yes please for a map :)

I'd be interested in a map too please.

Also, are there many dog friendly eating places in Chester?

Carol, we cannot make the Festival, we are number 45. Perhaps someone on the list can go now. Was due to arrive on Thursday.

Obviously it's two years since we last visited, but we found quite a few dog friendly eateries and pubs in Chester and will be bringing our hound along again this year.
Edit, we visited the Commonhall Street Social and they did a Sunday roast lunch for dogs !

I would love a map, too. Not been to Chester for many years....

Just a bit of information re the inner ring road in Chester, it is now a one way system, so if you come in from North Wales over the Grosvenor Bridge, Nuns road which runs along the race course is closed so you will need to approach via Watergate Street.
When leaving the Racecourse you will have to turn right back up Watergate St. then left at the inner ring road and drive all round Chester via the park and Pepper St to get back to the Grosvenor Bridge.

Or you could simply turn left out of the Racecourse and join the A494 at Queensferry... ;)

Hi sorry to hear this,, we are not having a marquee this year at the show, I am not sure how the charging for the scooter will work but you can plug in my electric if this will help and I'm sure others on electric would help as well but I'm not sure how it works but what we can do to help we will.
You could e mail Briony at Chester Food Festival and ask if she has any ideas.
Briony is really helpful and if you let her know may day something like "speak to the engineers when you arrive" as I think they have done flexibility about adding a few more EHU points but don't like it to be "expected".

With Chester getting close there's a couple of things to let those attending know about...

First, as mentioned in Briony's email, there is a one way system in operation in Chester at the moment, and it's causing lots of tail backs, I would strongly recommend you approach Chester Racecourse from either, the A55/A483 junction (You will still encounter traffic this way but it will be minimal), or from the A494/A458 Junction which completely misses all the roadworks.

Secondly, if there's enough interest i can put together a laminated map of the City with the walk that I did a few years ago and some info on Pubs/Restaurants/Bike Rides and Tourist attractions in and around ?

See you all soon
Cheers Red, Chris and Bannock
I think 'Rapper's idea about uploading the map so people could download it is a good idea. ✔

Would everyone coming please remember your number on the list it will help you get sited a lot quicker.
Tomorrow I'll be confirming arrival times with Briony.

Carol
Myself and Adele will be arriving Lunchtime on Friday.
Look forward to seeing everyone there.

Morning Carol, I have a big piece of white plastic that I will bring, not as good as a proper white board but might work if you don't get a better offer.

Did you get sorted with the 6kg gas bottle you were looking for?

Can't wait to welcome you all to Chester! Home of the glorious Twentieth Legion Valaria Victrix!

I've pulled together some information that may help over the weekend most of which is listed below...

I've put together a walk that you can follow on your phone in Google Maps, just click on the link below which will open Google Maps then follow the Four sections, clicking on the Black Points Of Interest when you get near to them will provide you with information on that location. Any problems give me a shout on site and I'll run you through it.

The marshals will have printed lists of Restaurants, Dog Friendly Pubs and Dog Friendly Cafes available for you, please request these on arrival if you require one.

For those of you that are bringing Bicycles with you there is a fantastic network of traffic free cycle routes in and around Chester,

A link to the Sustrans website is below for those that require more informaion, or ask your friendly neighbourhood rally marshal.

Chester now has E-Scooter's for hire, they are £2 for 20mins and there is a Scoot park just outside the Racecourse (an easy way to get into or out of town?)

To use these you will need to download the Ginger app, for this and more information see the link below...

At the Cathederal there is currently a Model Railway exhibition with Pete Waterman's 74 foot West Coast Mainline layout! Entry is £2.50, which also gives access to the Cathederal itself.

If walking is not for you, you could try the Hop-On, Hop-Off Chester City Sightseeing Bus, this can be boarded just outside the Racecourse entrance next to the Holiday Inn. 24hr Ticket £12.50, 48hr Ticket £16.00 or 24hr Ticket including river cruise £17.00.

Chester Boat run regular river cruises up the historic river Dee, personally I wouldn't bother with the 30 min cruise, the Ironbridge cruise is worth a go if you've got your sea legs with you...

If you'd like a guided tour you'll be spoiled for choice, there is the traditional guided tour, a Roman tour, Medieval tour and a Ghost tour, for those that like is super spookey, the Ghost tour can be purchased as an "Audio Trail" from the Tourist Information Centre at the Town Hall for £4 enabling you to follow it after dark!!!

There are numerous Museums in Chester, the Grovsenor Museum and Chester Military Museum are a short Scooter ride away, Sick to Death and the Dewa Roman Experience are also close by and worth a visit.

Finally, for supplies, there is a Tesco Superstore and Aldi next door to each other just down the Sealand Road.

We hope you enjoy your stay in Chester, please don't hesitate to ask any questions, we'll do our best to answer them and to make your visit the best we can.

Cheers
Carol (La Jefa), Jannine and Red.

I have one but I probably won't want to lug it all round Wales for the following three weeks 🤣

Just bumping this up for the information Red has put on well worth a read.

A quick head's up!

The start time that is shown on the Thread "Header" is currently incorrect, please do not turn up at the Racecourse before 14:00 on Thursday otherwise the organisers will turn you away.

If you get to the area early there is a Google Map providing a few "Layup" areas that may be useful.

Cheers
Red.

Just wondering what number will see you sometime after 2pm on Thursday. Thanks

The number next to your forum name on the list of attendees on the first page of this thread... And probably a good idea to have your booking code that was sent via e-mail from Camperfest ;)

Cheers
Red.
