Postie delivering letters but in uniform, (with or without the standard shorts in winter), would concern me. However, it could be totally innocent.

In an effort to avoid theft of our motorhome we have a Vanbitz Strikeback alarm, engine immobiliser, we place a ratchet strap between the cab door handles so they cannot be opened, we turn the drivers seat to face it rear wards and secure it there with a motorcycle disc lock with integral alarm. We also park our car directly behind it to avoid it being driven away without also moving the car which has its own anti theft devices.

If the bast@4ds get past that lot then they are welcome to it!

You can register at the Land Registry,s any activity on your gets flagged up to you. I'm sure I read about it on here and did mine straight away.

my wife & I were out this afternoon not far from home when our Ring camera pinged & it showed a chap taking a picture of our brand new MH. ( only picked it up Friday) it did look like he delivered something but no uniform or vehicle. So I spun the car around & saw walking down a driveway but to the back off the house, so I pulled him asking why he was taking pictures. It did turn out to be innocent, but my wife said I over reacted, I wasn’t aggressive but was a little forceful in my questioning. Was I over reacting? I don’t think so.

What was his explanation?

I would be very wary. There's someone out there trying to scam you at every turn. Taking a photo, put it on eBay and reel some gullible would be buyer in who thinks they're getting a bargain. We've all seen vans for sale online at real bargain prices. Or you'll find your van on a website with dozens of others to make it look like a real dealership. It may still be on your drive but somebody could be using it online

We had a lady knock at our door a few months back who explained she had a YouTube channel and was it okay to film our van. I quickly realised she was meaning inside the van! When I declined her request she just said, “oh right” and walked off. They never spoke to us for the next week on the THS.

People are mad as hatters. I carry a couple of Bo sticks/staffs which anyone can learn the basics, lots of vids on YT. If you don't have dogs baseball bats are a hard one to square away with the cops. I have been stop a times and never been question about the 2 'poles', I walk around with one of them with a dog all over Europe when I am not 100% of the landscape and never been stopped by the cops. Its just a long stick

I don't think I need to worry about that hear as any new deeds come from the notary where you have to attend. Most spaniards rarely check their post boxes from one month to the next.

I'd say you were over reacting.

I've taken literally hundreds of photos of people's cars and motorhomes. I've had hundreds of photos taken of my own vehicles by others.

Maybe he just liked the van and wanted to show his wife etc... maybe he wants to buy a motorhome and takes photos of ones he likes.


Either way there's nothing you can do to stop people taking photos.

We don't all have 4 dogs living in our vans, especially one that looks angry even when it's tail is wagging.

EDIT, But seriously, if I had been in the OP position and saw someone that I didn't know, in my GARDEN, taking pictures of my brand new, EXPENSIVE van while I wasn't there.

I think I would have taken the same actions ( and, possibly, a bit more) he took.

Apparently, his brother sells MHs & was wondering how much it was worth as he loved to look off it & was going to show his wife to. He told he was a postman but didn’t have a uniform but we did have post delivered, also he told me his car was on our road so took picture of his reg. so hopefully

I really don’t now I’ve talked to him. He was delivering post but in civvies. Just wasn’t sure watching him on the Ring camera been told he may work for private post service.

So, a postman but not a postman, that you didn't actually see delivering mail, didn't have a royal mail van and the most obvious ommission is that you've not mentioned seeing an actual bag full of post if he's going door to door
