Cassette cleaning machine??!!

I see you follow the instructions as well 👍 yes that’s what I have read too.
I'm still very much a newbie (always learning hey?!) and so instruction manuals are my bible! I don't measure out a litre or anything, just press the flush for 5-10 seconds or so to get a bit of water mixed with the liquid to be honest with you.

Just paid £30 per night for a fully serviced pitch can’t see an issue with that price, I’d be happy with £32 if the clean machine was included.
Thats fair enough if you want to use sites costing that sort of money but the general conversation is towards being on aires that are either free or ver low cost, but personally if I’m staying on a site paying fees for a pitch (not fully serviced)I would expect to have facilities for waste provided at no extra cost? It’s obviously different if you ask for fully serviced pitch which you will then pay extra for but they are not going to install one on every pitch? are you still willing to carry your cassette to the machine and pay extra?🤔

To be honest a serviced pitch is a novelty and whilst it’s subjective it’s not a lot of money for a well maintained spot with good facilities. Regarding the cassette machine again I may use one for the novelty but do change and clean out our tank every day whether it has had light or heavy use. When we hat hone it’s gets a through cleanse and smells good with no bad odours or residues left inside.

Yup always learning here as well and occasionally re-read the instruction manual Winter lay up etc

For anyone who’s interested ,here are the locations of the Camper clean machines .
Personally I would like to see these located in service stations and car parks etc rather than exclusively on camp sites where they are used as a “ novelty “ because an existing elsan point will always be available.

I wonder how reliable they are - and how much maintenance they need?
Viability will be key to their success or failure.
No point in installing them in remote locations or carparks if they are always breaking down.

The one at Love2stay always seems to be working but it rarely gets used . I never understood why they installed one really as every pitch has its own black waste dump and therefore why would anyone walk and carry a cassette and then pay to empty it .

. they don't look practical away from sites where water, electricity and sewers aren't close by.

That was going to be my question - water, power and disposal of contents!

Concierge Camping West Ashling Chichester has one. Gosh that was such a posh campsite!
Yep, we are currently at Concierge Camping, bloody lovely site, I know it won’t be for everybody, but we are booked in already for next year!

Some one mentioned a tap being fitted to use whilst the cassette machine is doing its job. This could be handy to top up the flush tank.

What’s the cost ?
A lot If you have the pitches with the safari tent kitchen. But I think the normal pitches are rarely reasonable in my opinion for the standard of facilities etc. It looks expensive, but it includes awnings, dogs etc. No add one like a lot of sites. Think it’s around £40 on a night for a normal fully serviced pitch. But if you use facilities, there will be no better anywhere. Take a look at some of the YouTube reviews.

I’ve had a quick look in the past . Quite expensive but if you are happy then it’s worth every penny 👍🏻. We pay £65 a night at Love2stay and enjoy the pool , beach area and hot tubs etc but won’t go there every weekend as the cost starts to mount up . Also had a great time at Bromyard Downs CAMC for £16 a night with no facilities and it’s a nice feeling to also be able to get away at a bargain price 👍🏻

That was me. I'm just trying to imagine this as like a half-way house type thing in the battle to get more approves "aires". Maybe if councils installed some of these, they would see some extra revenue, see that people are more than happy to pay a reasonable amount to use these types of facilities, and maybe install more of them. Just imagine a council carpark somewhere on the sea front. You pay a fiver or tenner (something reasonable) to stay overnight, and maybe use a machine similar to this to take on 20-30 litres of fresh water while you dump your black waste and have your cassette cleaned for you for another pound or two. Certainly sounds good to me.

But can they guarantee the weather,? BUSBY.

Still cannot see what advantage these machines have over just emptying into a drain and giving the cassette a quick rinse..You are going to use it again quite soon.BUSBY.😂

Because they are already set up to make the "owner" of it a profit from its use. So now imagine these at carparks where the council is considering letting motorhome users stay overnight. If they are turning a profit from it and at the same time helping to prevent some of the threads we have seen of irresponsible dumping of cassette waste, surely it can only serve to further our "cause" of getting more councils enthusiastic about welcoming motorhome users. They are self-contained, discrete and as far as I can see, should be able to put anywhere where there is a public toilet with little expense.

Never have a problem in Europe disposing of waste..Never do UK so don't know the problem.BUSBY.

It's great that you don't, truly. Others however, do. If even 50% of the new owners (I mean buyers since the start of Covid) keep their vans, the UK sites are going to be busier than ever before. Places like the NC500 route are already struggling to cope with the influx of visitors they receive. Don't you think that machines such as these, dotted over the route, would provide a useful service, stop some of the problems with irresponsible dumping of waste and bring in some money to the councils that run them?

Plenty of these in DE, used them a few times on sites in the Black Forest where they seemed quite common. The Germans and Swiss love automating anything, even things that don't really need automating.....

I have seen a cassette stuck inside one a few years back, someone from the campsite had to get it out....

Usually they are €2 p/clean

I wouldn't say it cleans it just empties it. You must take the cap off yourself whatever the video or instructions say
we stayed at a campsite in Germany, a couple of years ago, "Spitzanort" just west of Lubeck they had one, I used it, it empties, then fills and cleans, empties it again and then puts some detergent stuff in it, takes about 2 minutes, 1 euro, perfect

A few of these around the NC500 would be bloody marvellous I would have thought? Councils make a good profit from their use and we get somewhere to empty our cassette responsibly.
If these were used round the NCR500 or anywhere else they would be trashed for the cash in no time. It would have to operate cashless.

I can't wait to try one.

NVM, reading up on the real thread topic...
Though ours seems pretty clean using bio tabs and a quick rinsing after emptying.

I think they add blue as well so not suitable for everyone. You still have to take the cap off as well.

I don't use the blue stuff, so I wouldn't use one even for free

If they had the option to not add the blue stuff I would use one if it was the only choice, but as I use bio tabs and the blue stops them working I won't use one at the moment.
As a couple of funsters have said, the machine is using a bio spec. liquid.
So for £2 you're only losing the ability to use your preferred choice of bio solution but still getting an environment safe liquid in the cassette (y)
