Cassette cleaning machine??!!

Used this machine at Old Oaks in Glastonbury ,I actually thought it was pretty good. At the time it was also free (usually £2) due to it being straight after lockdown and before all facilities opened (pre May 17). Easy to use and adds chemicals and small amount of water.

I would love to see these in motorway service stations..
That would be great wouldn't it?! One thing I think that could be great for that placement would be to add a fresh water outlet onto it. As soon as you press the start button to commence the cleaning of the cassette, the tap is activated too. Sure, you aren't going to fill your tank in the 2/3 mins it takes for this machine to do its job, but you can certainly top up a bit while you wait for it to do its thing.

Just filled in a survey from the C&MC and one of the questions asked was would you like to see these machines introduced on site.

I don't use the blue stuff, so I wouldn't use one even for free

These machines are the solution to a problem that exists in many tourist areas, NC 500 comes to mind and will help dampen anti motorhome resentment by many local residents.
In away they are sited in the wrong place, great if a site wants to install I'm all for it, but they need to be installed off site in area's of need.
We've seen the installation of electric vehicle charge points migrate from the original installs at fuel stations to other less obvious sites such as Public House's, Farm shops, Supermarkets ect.
Businesses soon realise the benefits of a captive customer.
So come on Tesco, become more continental (sorry dont mean to affend ) do as the French do and install in your carparks in tourist hotspots.
Same goes for local councils, dont moan about mess when there's a solution.
Motorhomers / Campervans are not always the problem, its sometimes the lack of imagination to solve a problem.

Could someone explain the cassette cleaning fetish? I clean the outside of ours thoroughly after every trip: the inside never. I need a machine to do the carrying / dragging to the emptying point. Pouring the stuff out is pretty effortless.

On a well equipped modern campsite with good facilities its probably not necessary, although more choice is a good. I have however stayed on sites with very poor facilities that can only be described as a health and safety hazard.
Overtime i would suggest that the manufacturers of these machines will expand the choice of additives available not just blue or green but also different scents to customise the 'cleaning experience'
For folks that wild camp, they offer many advantages, resent posts have highlighted this problem with individuals disposing of waste into open drains at motorway services. We've also discussed overnight parking at NT properties, how good would it be if they installed these in their carparks!
Endless possibilities to improve sanitary disposal, cant really understand why more haven't been installed.
Change will come, as with all technology some embrace quicker than others, which is ok do whatever your comfortable with.
Not for everyone but sited in the right location a benefit for us all.

I mainly stay on CL/CS sites and a lot of them have a basic elsan point, but I have never had a problem, even on our favourite site that doesn't even have running water by the disposal, just a barrel and a watering can.

I’ve used one and they are great - a fabulous idea to provide in all locations - the council will have a nice bit of revenue here! The only thing I would modify is make them pay by contactless rather than coins.

If they had the option to not add the blue stuff I would use one if it was the only choice, but as I use bio tabs and the blue stops them working I won't use one at the moment.

Don’t think I would want them on sites if not free as it’s just a way to charge you extra for emptying at present there’s no charge they charge enough for pitches on the big two without paying extra to empty your cassette🤔😊

I give it a quick rinse and add a little water and that's it, I do a bit more at the end of the season as we rarely go away in the winter, but with the bio tabs I've never had a problem

The CAMC site at Brighton has one
Been out of action a couple of times but generally seems to be working ok and is used by quite a few people
Personally, I don’t use it as I so look forward to ‘latrine duties’ first thing in the morning, especially the Thetford Dance where you whirl the box about to mix up the bio stuff, it’s like outdoor yoga…

Did you have to pay to use it?🤔

I think it was about £2
The MH service area nearest the entrance

My original point in posting about these wasn't really to suggest them as an alternative on sites, but more as something that could me considered by any members of browsers of this forum who are active in the Aire campaign etc. For example, on the new page right now, the NT is trialling an "Aire" in one of their carparks. 10 quid a night for basically a carpark (a very pretty one though I'm sure!). If one of these was in a small wooden structure to blend into the background, you instantly have added value to any stay there and the NT gets a bit of extra cash. If they could add a fresh water outlet that was timed to go on and off with the operation of the cleaning facility, it would be even better.

Now that I can live with don’t mind paying in those situations, I do support CAMpRA and from memory they are advocating the provision of emptying points and believe these were one of the options.👍👍👍

They do seem to answer a lot of the questions regarding financially supporting the local areas where we, as our own little "community" like to park up for a night.

Not only do they add blue, they also add about a litre of water. I wouldn't use one even if free. Putting water in the cassette just means it needs emptying sooner.

I suppose the problem is if folk don’t like using blue cleaner they won’t use it and will need an alternative emptying point, which won’t happen as more expense involved in providing two points?🤔

As far as I am aware, this is what every manufacturer recommends doing though?

I'm fairly sure that the original video shows that the liquid being added is "eco" so I would have assumed it is the gren variety that is being added?

I wouldn't say it cleans it just empties it. You must take the cap off yourself whatever the video or instructions say
Go on give it a go I bet when you take that cap off and the pressure wash starts you will spray the inside of the machine. Just watch the video and follow the instructions you don’t want to be the one to get S£!t everywhere.

I see you follow the instructions as well 👍 yes that’s what I have read too.

Maybe an option (chemical's or not)
Also fresh water tap only .(I'd pay 2 quid to fill up with fresh water and service stations .

I'd happily pay £5 to empty and fill when traveling

That’s what I heard the man say when he read the instructions

Just paid £30 per night for a fully serviced pitch can’t see an issue with that price, I’d be happy with £32 if the clean machine was included.

I used the one at Coniston site in the Lake District as a special treat. It works really well but they don't look practical away from sites where water, electricity and sewers aren't close by.
