Chausson 727 welcome
Afternoon Guys 😊. Just looking at joining a caravan and motorhome club for booking on campsites really. Is it recommended by you lot out there??

We joined them this year as at least two campsites we want to stay at that are owed by them so worked out cheaper joining.
I guess it depends where you want to stay.
We have booked another campsite that is dearer then there’s but again it was the location we wanted
Boils down to where you want to stay I guess

We have been members for 30 years and find it very good value. Any Club is only any good if you get something out of it. For us over those 30 years we have done 786 rallies with the Cheshire Centre which has been lots of fun and we have met many friends. As members of the Club we can attend a rally anywhere in the UK and now we are retired we go to the Spanish rally.
However. Using the Club sites is expensive but the CL's are good value.

For first year we were in both. We have decided we will not renew CAMC despite liking 1 (localish) site. That one site isn't worth the membership fee alone.

CACC worked out over 2023 at half the nightly rate as CAMC despite us not getting the pensioner discount. The key difference is CACC have "deals" reguarly (and THS) which you don't neeed to book 6 months in advance (CAMC have this problem) to benefit from. Also CACC do not require EHU, which lower the per-night fee by about £7 on our use last year. Last year many campsites had a full 30% off with a GRASSUK30 code for a grass with no ehu option throughout a lot of summer (including peak weekends).

To put in context how different the sites are, on seperate 2 bank holidays we booked once the weather was "known" in the week ahead forecast... CAMC wanted around £46/ni in the summer bank holiday for 2 of us + one dog, so around £140 for the bank holiday. CACC wanted £70 for the (long)weekend. The difference on the second one was worse, about £70 again for CACC and £210 for CAMC on August bank holiday!. CACC wanted £70 for 3 nights with no EHU. Similar sites, similar area (both were up near North Norfolk).

All I can report is the per night fees on average being half on the CACC system ... THS are cheaper still (usually £10-15/ni from our experience) than the THS that CAMC offered last summer (which were £30-40 a night after all costs).. The difference being often CACC charge per unit, where CAMC charge per person.

We had same issues this winter on pricing, and booked CACC for both stays in December for similar pricing related issues. (We did take EHU option in winter for our heating so the difference wasn't as stark!).

Ref; friendlyness we've had both friendly wardens and miserable ones on both systems, but we have found the campers on CACC sites genuinely more friendly on average. No idea why...

CL/CS review wise, CL's are more expensive than CS's on average too. Something to do with many having EHU we suspect, which we don't need in summer at least.
