canal du midi à la chaser Feb 2017

just met another funster, @SuperMike arrived at Twin Lakes yesterday in the dark

travelling incognito, well no funster badge anyway :) you can't exactly miss them in the worlds biggest Winnebago :)(y)

although it is painted a camouflage colour :)

Whilst sitting somewhere private contemplating life and the price of fish, I realised that I had yet another bone to pick with you.

What is this "camouflage" cr*p ? I will have you know that my beautiful Winnebago's full body paint is entitled Desert Sand. It is so much better than plain old ice cream van white.

Don't know if this is any use to you but this is my rough map of where we always eat when at gravelines, never been disappointed.
Called au cap compass, you can see it from the aire but you have to walk round the harbour to get to it.

ice cream white my dear boy, no idea why you bothered with sand blasting yours, if you didn't even notice ours is champagne gold :)(y)

We always thought it was pronounced grav el een, be interesting to hear what @yodeli thinks.

Seems to me the right way to say it ....the way I read it LOL! Make things a tad complicated ahaha! Now of course you should say it all in one go. Don't forget that if you want to succeed in talking proper French, forget about having a tonic accent. Every single syllabus has to be pronounced on one same tone, on the same virtual line.... if you understand what I mean. I usually take as an example "comfortable": English will go COM...fortable , while french with the same word will say "comfortable".

thanks Frankie, but I still have no idea how to say Gravelines :):)

is the a pronounced ay or ar or something else even o_O

do we pronounce the s?

I do like to at least try and get things right (y)(y)

I think the problem is because the word looks English, but then the real problem could because I think :LOL:

we are now at cite de Europe, that's so easy to see but what a bugger to find, must be easier on the tunnel exit maybe

well the car park is as close as I intend to get, I don't do shopping and am certainly not willing ta walk 100yds before we even get there :)

I am presuming I have the right place for parking, the clue is the MH symbol at the entrance I guess, (y) but no marked out bays, nothing really to tempt me to use this overnight at all :(

but each to their own (y)

No , no ay, more A as in Cat or Twat... whoops did I say something not suitable for a Princess? Don't tell JJ I'm going to get told off LOL !
No S either at the end of it just like "leen"

parked at Graveleeeeen, thanks Frankie and Phil (y)(y)

wind is pretty serious and no way Bev fancies the walk back to the restaurant :(

we are going to cut our losses and head for the tunnel, maybe use the Canterbury P + R option instead (y)

It seems to me (not yet having tried it) that it is useful if you arrive in France late at night and want somewhere to stay until morning that doesn't require driving very far?

Restaurants inside as well, booze as cheap as anywhere in the supermarket

Absolutely correct. But we also stay there on the way back. Stock up with refreshments at the Carrefoure hypermarket/

Even better if you use the tunnel. Drive straight off the train, down the ramp, along the road about half a mile and take the slip road on the right signposted to Cite Europe. Then left at the next roundabout then the next roundabout you get to will have the Ibis hotel on the right. Just turn left at that one (remember to go the wrong way round!), onto the Boulevard du Kent and drive along about 400 or 500 yards and the car park that David has photographed is on your left. About 5 minutes at most.

Now, listen here old "I'm not talking to you, type fellow". Truly, I did not notice that your, cough, cough, errr motorhome was not white. Clearly I am in error in paying it such a complement, when it's colour so closely resembles that which comes out of a baby's bum. :boxing: :clap2: :moon2:  :getmecoat:

You've made me laugh & want to follow in your footsteps as usual David:D2 loved the photos too.

Safe trip - Storm Doris is due over here tomorrow, 80mph gusts forecast in the midlands so take care :)x

I dont want photos of said "motorhome" as just changed grumpsons nappy. No reminder necessary

we ran for home last night having reviewed the weather, possibly a good call, it was really quite rough in France yesterday, not too bad a drive home, but all parked up on drive for midnight, got a few more photos to add later and a few costs etc

apart from that, now got to plan for Sweden / Norway / arctic circle in August / September

Brendan, I did not realise what a sheltered life you lead :D2

I didn't think it had been that sheltered Peter, so perhaps some phone numbers required. Purely to assist with broadening my horizons you understand.
