So then team, just to make any of you feel better about the cost of gas for yo mo ho’s, spare a thought for those of us that have to use the stupidly small and ridiculously expensive Camping Gaz cylinders
Now that we have a smaller van and using my previous Gaslow cylinders is not an option (still got the small one for sale btw) I have worked out a way to refill the 907’s myself at home. All it took was the acquisition of an empty 15 Kg Calor Butane cylinder and a pigtail and adaptor to connect to the 907. I have filled up two of my 907’s for a quarter of the price of exchange cylinders Still at least twice the price compared to LPG massive savings compared to Butane form Camping Gaz
In the grand scheme of things, depending on where you buy your gas……
1 Kg of LPG from a filling station …………………………………….. £1.50
1 Kg of Calor Butane from a 15Kg cylinder…………………………. £3.33
1 Kg of Camping Gaz butane from a 907 cylinder ……………….. £13.33
I used to have Gaslow refills on previous van so the LPG price sets the cost comparison.
For the refill procedure I weighed the cylinders accurately before and after so that I did not overfill.
An empty 15Kg Calor cylinder cost me £10 off Gumtree, the pigtail and adaptor cost just under £32 from BES and a refill exchange for a full cylinder cost £50
I’m QUIDS in!
