Just booked our 1st trip to France in the Motorhome for September, I was trying to get a Physical Camping Carpark Card & have Downloaded the App which apparently gives me the Digital preference, my question is how do I get a Physical Card as that is what I would prefer, it doesn't seem to have anywhere on there to order & pay for one , thanks for any help Chris.

When I registered the app it just asked me for a debit card so I put one of my UK ones in and it ran a check and said its all ok. I never loaded anything. I assume it will just take payment from that registered account?
I don't believe you authorise them to take money, you have to load funds to your account so you have enough credit to leave any site you are on. If you don't have sufficient credit they won't let you out until you load your account or call them and pay over the phone.

When I said loaded, I meant I used the Revolut Card to Transfer Cash into the Camper Card Account 👍

What a couple ahead of us didn't realise is if you using the on-app card, you do need data to activate the code prior to entering a car park.

ie, don't think you can leave your phone offline and just use a pin code to get into a site, you first must activate your pin code then enter it.

Should say they were also first trying to entering the code initially on the exit barrier, which funnily enough didn't work. YOu have to enter it on the passenger side of a UK vehicle on the barrier marked entry funnily ehough. One warning on the CCP, some of the water dispensers are OUTSIDE the gate, so you may want to go back out to come back in once you have entered the site. We had this at 2 of our 3 stays.

I got one a Month ago in Laruns. Couldn’t get into the car park with the app so phoned them on the number at the barrier. I’d loaded some euros into my account first. The guy I spoke with did something and a card popped out of the machine. Just held it to the keypad and hey presto barrier opened.

Don't forget you need to drive up to the barrier so it can detect the MH. It won't open otherwise and of course if it doesn't open don't hesitate to call them. Technical faults are not uncommon.

Currently chaos here in Mont St Michel. Must have watched 15-20 vans in the last 2 hours have to reverse from the barrier. Don't know if it's codes or people causing the issue. Fun though. This morning there were 6 vans waiting to go. All had to reverse 😄

Literally just arrived at the first CCP this holiday, and using the APP is just so simple

Arrive at drive in barrier, open APP, press “Access”, then code appears on screen, press activate, then enter number into barrier key pad. Same code into electric point here, and that becomes live.

Simple.

People unable to get out and end up reversing almost always don't have enough funds in their account.

I've been caught out like this a couple of times so I always try to check if I've got enough in the account before leaving the pitch. Some folk just add enough each time they exit, I tend to keep enough in for a couple of nights.

That would have worked! :) On our last trip we saw several groups around the machines discussing what to do next. Not everyone seems to appreciate or are able manage using the app.

I suspect going card-less they will lose some customers, the card is very convenient to use.

That is how I understand it should work. People keep talking about "loading" cards with enough funds but presumably if you just have the app like we have and have registered a debit card which has been approved you dont need to "load" anything?

That may be simple, but not as simple as just tapping the card on the key pad
And you have to enter a code on the electric hook up for it to work ? Thats a new development

I think some sites have this, none of the 3 we visited (inlcuding one still being built as they hadn't finished or put bins in yet in Falaise) did though.

You do need a code for the water/elsan at all the sites we visited though.

I guess it's less competition for spaces! :giggler:

AFAIK, you still need to top up your account to ensure you have sufficient funds (using the stored debit card details, if you like) before attempting to leave.

I'm sure they'll get 'round to auto top-up but then they would lose out on all the €€ held in people's accounts...

Does it always generate the same code, I assumed it changed each time it's used

So it will let you in without topping up your account but you cant leave until you add some credit to it? Seems a bit daft that to me. Or is it like putting some kind of deposit down in case you dont have enough money in the account to leave? But if you cant leave until you have enough money in your bank to pay then why do you need to deposit funds with them?

Fairly simple. You pay for using their facilities from your CCP account.

You only need to deposit funds into your CCP account if/when you want to leave. You can deposit just enough to cover what you owe, if you like.

I think my current balance is €0.35

Must be only on new sites. We've used 5 CCP in the last 4 weeks, all only needed the card to get in and out. Presumably the new tech is to stop FLTs running a cable through the fence.

I have the app and you still have to load money onto your account to use at a CCP. You can do that within the app though.

I shall make sure I guard my card carefully. It all sounds far more complex than it needs to be. I've almost always got enough for a couple of nights in the account although I haven't used any CCP's this year.

Thanks. Before or after you enter (just in case i forget) :D
I always do it before. I don't think it matters though. You'll have to try it. We do really like CCP . You can replenish and empty and it offers that extra bit of security compared to a free park up.

Agree, and on some of them (many) we've discovered the pitches are larger than a typical park up aire, with actual room for chairs and awning at some of the newer ones. This appears to be by design.

We also really liked the (new) one in Falaise, perfect location under the castle, 5 mins walk to middle of town (yes up a hill, but it can't be perfect, it's downhill on way back with stuff you buy).
