C and MC opening sites 1st July?

I reckon sites will be one of the first things back, certainly long before bars, restaurants hotels etc
Our wardens have been busy decorating the toilet and shower block, and our resident gardener has been very busy edging all of the pitches, our on line booking goes back on the web site this weekend and we are fully ready to be open with some restrictions soon, we are anticipating end of May

We won’t open before we are told to, but will be ready to hit the ground running

Obviously as per all the business haters on here have predicted we have tripled the basic pitch fee, to capitalise on peoples misery??

I congratulate your small c conservative approach to pricing.?

Plenty of nice cycle rides, great walks with the dogs, sat out with a beer, get away for a break in the fresh air, take your own food/drink, use the vans toilet/shower.

I`m with you on this. (y). THAT is why we bought a Motorhome WITH all the facilities. My next question would be? What reduction in site fee? for lack of facilities, (which we rarely use anyway, normally). Don`t know a bout ME, but the DOG is showing signs of "stir craziness"!!. We get 2 "walks" a day, but we are running out of fresh scenery, (and "doggy smells"!!). It`s not going to be long before I "try" for the beach, (6 miles) and our nice long (pre lockdown) walks!

You guys are making me feel guilty living here. Strolling on the beach every day. This was 20 minutes ago.

You missed a trick there Eddie, you should have used the time to install electric and water meters for the pitches plus coin operated toilets and pay per litre metered showers plus coin operated hair dryers. #disappointed

We did the NC500 last year. Never went in a pub or restaurant. The free visitor attractions were superb.
I don't think any of our motorhomes would be welcome for quite a while yet.
the tourist is a major contributor to the highland economy i think we would all be fairly welcome right now from what i have heard by those living on others kindness.

Even if sites open and are able to allow people to continue with social distancing there's no way on earth the toilet/shower blocks can be opened without risk ... it's not about distancing in them but the fact that people will be touching the surfaces, doors etc which may spread the virus ... there's no way to avoid this short of cleaning them every time they've been used by someone.

I'm hoping that there is a relaxation so that our lodges can start to have visitors again as they are easy for people to social distance from other units with no need to be in contact with anyone, or touch stuff that hasn't been cleaned between lettings. Fortunately those that use them tend to want a quiet break so other than a drive to the coast etc they are more likely to just enjoy the peace and quiet and go for walks.

That would be great as we all like to contribute to the local economy but other posts have said they never visit anywhere that isn’t free.?

:giggle: Nope ... just using common sense ... if the toilet blocks are open then the risk of contact transmission increases ... so would you really want to use them?

There will be plenty of people that would use them - they won't have the concerns of a lot of people on here

That's the problem though isn't it ... same with the numpties who don't respect social distancing either.

It's the perfect business for SD. Isolated, very simple business model, low paid staff, decent return.

Never have done, all my Van's have had own facilities, from what I have seen even without CV19 there are many/most I would not even enter without full PPE.

I guess thats why a lots of locals on the NC500 are now complaining because they get all the traffic, holdups, wear and tear on the local infrastructure etc., but no support to the immediate local economy......

But why? It is easy to practice social distancing on a campsite with 6 metres between pitches combined with a government eager to get the economy moving in a responsible manner..... as above, they look like being one of the first things to open up as soon as essential travel is eased
I think essential travel is the key, I don't think locals will be any happier now than they were when essential travel was first restricted. Why would they be. What has changed? Travel directly to a pre booked site just maybe but a free hand not yet captain, far too risky.
