Bit of a rant, regarding disposable Bar-B-Q`s...

Oooooh,I love a bbq dog poo sausage thread in the morning to set me up for the day.

Shoot the dog owners who don’t pick up,shoot the bbq owners who kill the grass. There is no cure for folk who stoop so low as eating a Richmond sausage I’m afraid.

We’ve a lovely park near us, lots of ponds and wildlife. It’s a lovely setting. The council have put picnic benches, the recycled plastic type, dotted all around. They now all have big ugly melted patches all over where dumb people have used disposable bbqs on the top of them.

Seen quite a few parks where they have built brick strictures with a slab, or a grid, across for people to place their barbecue and put a metal bin at the side for waste. Seems a good idea.

There are a few at Thursaston Country Park on the Wirral

Last night I cooked perfectly seasoned Richmond sausages, beautifully mashed potatoes and baked beans.

Doesn't cost much for a cheap table to lift your BBQ off the ground. As for the disposable ones... call me a BBQ snob (I am) but they are awful things. Buy a Weber Go-Anywhere and actually enjoy cooking great food, rather than searing the outside with heavy chemicals.

I wonder why people ask questions in the form of a moan when they know that no one can give an answer or do anything about it. It's just like starting a thread called How Long Is a Piece of String.

Probably better to approach the Camp site/Council or whoever about the concerns as ranting on here will achieve nothing other than getting others to moan as well, or defend the behaviour depending on their point of view.

Funny you should mention that….I’ve often wondered How Long Is A Piece Of String? How would you go about measuring it precisely and which piece of string would you use,mine or yours? It really is a highly technical subject that I think we should consider in greater detail. Maybe someone has a degree in the subject and could help us.

Only a matter of time before charcoal grills are banned, not just for the reasons stated in this thread about the unpleasantness and selfishness of disposable users. The eco chappies consider them a significant polluter. I don't necessarily agree because if you use it correctly, a charcoal burner can be virtually smokeless.

However, I've seen charcoal grills belching out vast clouds of acrid smoke, because the person using it doesn't know what they are doing. My gas barbecue has a failsafe device if it starts smoking and annoying adjacent motorhomers. Me. I can turn it down, or even turn it off. Charcoalers can't do that.

Would I ban them? No. Would I ban the throwaway ones. Yes.
