Best water filtration system for motorhome

Isn’t Milton supposed to be damaging to the stainless in the boiler??
The plan was to put a very small dose in which I will the draw through the taps/boiler etc Didn't think it would be strong enough to damage the boiler.... Could use PuriSol instead I guess - to be safe.

We just fill a Jerry can with drinking water and use the tank fit grass and cooking (boiling week kill everything).

i've been looking at this as a possible update to the Jerry can but probably overkill in Europe

It wouldn't harm the boiler with a weak solution for a short time. However there is no point disinfecting hit water as

1. You don't drink it and
2. The heat will kill any bugs

The Reds Go Travels have an interesting filter system. There’s a YouTube video they produced on it last year.

I’ve seen that, it seems a bit of a faff, but I guess if you’re desperate it’ll do the job, I’ve just changed the naturepure filter for the dedicated tap in the bathroom and cleaned out the tanks and lines and all is good, water good, no taste, no filter jug, and so I’ll be using this for now and just change the filter annually like Flairy Brian, it seems like a similar system to mine

I see they are made by General Ecology same as my nature pure? Wonder if they are exactly the same, just a different system🤷‍♂️🤔🤔
They are different apparently Ive only used the Seagull in the past, so no idea if you could "taste the difference" -

Wasn’t the UK nature pure representative conning UK consumers at one point?

In the bumf with the filter it said the seagull was for residential applications and what Ive got (Naturepure) was for RV and marine🤷‍♂️👍

Well for my next project I would like to fit a water filtration system to my van, and by that I mean, not just to get the uk tap water tasting better I mean for filtering unknown water in the far flung corners of, say Turkiye or Morocco.
At present I filter 6-8 big bottles of water at home and take it with me, and yes you’re gonna tell me it’s only a few pence a bottle at the supermarket (but I am from Yorkshire😁 and there’s too much plastic about without me contributing to it😇😇) so what do you lot on here fit on your motorhomes or what have you seen that’s any good, is a uv filter a must on top of the cartridges? I must admit I’m only just starting the research👍
We have a Pure Nature system. Mad expensive. Canisters ridiculous prices. I didn’t clear the water from the faucet properly and in the bad weather the ice damaged it. £160 for a new faucet! Insane.
Also the canisters and microbiological OR soften water (no tea scum) but not both.
I’d look conscientiously for both filtration mechanisms with a decent parts prices. Sorry I can only offer a system you shouldn’t buy than one you should. But there you go.

Hope that helps in your search.

Never thought of that even though I use the blummin tap🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
Would it be too much trouble to walk from the kitchen to the bathroom to get your water, and just use the filter you've got? 🤔

That’s what I’m doing, my original plan was for a new install of filters connected in the kitchen tap line and was going to do away with the bathroom one, now I’ve cleaned the whole system and fitted a new filter we are going to use the small tap in the bathroom in future. The reason behind the thought process was as the present filter system is getting quite old and the cartridges are always going up in price, I just wondered if there was a better more modern economical way of filtered water.👍

The thing with the more efficient filtration systems is that they also remove beneficial/essential minerals like magnesium, calcium, iron etc.

I do think that some water can taste a bit odd, for whatever reason so previously we have used filters more to improve taste and reduce scum on the tea but one question I do have is: do plastic tanks and water pipes result in any increase in plastic particles in the stored water?

Last filter we had was a seagull IV, which we thought produced the nicest flavour.
We use a Brita filter at home for tea and coffee and definitely taste the difference if we accidentally fill the kettle straight from the tap.

The 3M that I referred to in post #16 above. The cartridge holder is plumbed into the cold line to the basin/sink. Cost about £35 approximately from memory. The self contained Microbial cartridge screws into the holder and you can get a stopper so you can take the cartridge out when draining down the system. Cartridges cost about £50 and lasts about a season.

Sold by Pozzani. See here the cartridge on sale

That would have to be an ion exchange resin or reverse osmosis. You can't filter out these salts and like you say it would be of no benefit.

I think the genuine filters were being replaced with copies whilst the genuine ones were being sold as such, so if you bought a filter, you got a fake cartridge....

Our boats water maker had an option to add minerals to its output - but not needed for the seagull iv.

Must have been reverse osmosis (RO). That has to be remineralised in large scale plants.

They are, used high pressure membranes to convert seawater to drinking water.

Wasn't a fake one, they were selling the lower quality one as the 0.1 micron one.
