All the gear, and no idea!
Well for my next project I would like to fit a water filtration system to my van, and by that I mean, not just to get the uk tap water tasting better I mean for filtering unknown water in the far flung corners of, say Turkiye or Morocco.
At present I filter 6-8 big bottles of water at home and take it with me, and yes you’re gonna tell me it’s only a few pence a bottle at the supermarket (but I am from Yorkshire😁 and there’s too much plastic about without me contributing to it😇😇) so what do you lot on here fit on your motorhomes or what have you seen that’s any good, is a uv filter a must on top of the cartridges? I must admit I’m only just starting the research👍

I bought this filter and filter housing along with this tap and other bits and bobs to install them for just under £100 when I bought them a couple of years back, so they have gone up a bit, but not by much.
The other odds and sods to complete the system are all available from the same site and John was more than happy to answer the question I had before I purchased. We have been happily drinking the water from the tank via the filter for the past couple of years since installing it.

Give John a ring Adi, he is very approachable and will give you direct answers as to what you will need.

Filters last for 12 months and replacements are under £38.45 and remove pretty well everything.

I do have a nature pure filter system atm but it’s fitted in the bathroom🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🙄 and I’d like a filtration system built into the water system or at least to the kitchen sink👍

We’ve used seagull water filter for many years even our previous Hymer the canisters are expensive but the water never tasted of anything when you make Yorkshire Tea👍(canisters original now £150)🤪

We use the 3M filter in our system.
Link to the filter replacement cartridge. It would require the
head to attach to.

We have a separate tap at the kitchen sink just for the filtered water, didn't see any sense in filtering all the water that's delivered to the original taps in both the kitchen and bathroom.

Bit like me Paul but why the previous owner put it in the bathroom I don’t know, there must be a reason I guess, which I’ll prob find out when I start investigating under the kitchen sink😉👍

I see they are made by General Ecology same as my nature pure? Wonder if they are exactly the same, just a different system🤷‍♂️🤔🤔

Bloody he’ll you’ve already got a water filter fitted and you want another one

It’s probably in the bathroom as easier to fit, more space and the work surface easier to drill through

It’s just pure greed wanting 2 filters when we haven’t any and I’m surprised at a fellow Yorkshireman you’re letting the side down at least there’s one Yorkshire fellow still present on here who is as tight as a ducks a-se

We use the same 3M HF10 microbial filter. Works well for us.

The best water filtration system is to save money and not have one.

It very rare for water to be undrinkable even in the places you mention and even if it is I wouldn't trust any of the systems that are available to render it safe if it was that bad. I would just boil it.

Sadly all these filtration system sellers prey on our anxiety about water. It's big business. Yes it's possible but any reliable system will cost 000s and if it doesn't cost 000s it is because it's not reliable.

The trouble is you just don't know what is in the water and no single technology works for everything.

Just the view of a water scientist who has worked in the industry for 43years.😁

Well being as I’ve just received a new filter I’m going to flush out the system with a puriclean tablet (left in the tank a while) then I’m gonna flush it out then dose it up with citric acid flush it through to the taps (then leave it a few hours) then flush out. When all that’s done fit my new filter and see how we go on, if successful we’ll leave it at that and just get a few filters for future use👍

I do think that some water can taste a bit odd, for whatever reason so previously we have used filters more to improve taste and reduce scum on the tea but one question I do have is: do plastic tanks and water pipes result in any increase in plastic particles in the stored water?

Last filter we had was a seagull IV, which we thought produced the nicest flavour.

Flairy Brian did you see my DM from last Sunday??

Why not just move it and connect to the kitchen tap.

Could do but it’s easier just to get another? That’s if I need one, I’m putting the filter on and trying it, if Val can fill the kettle up and it’s taste free it’s stopping as it is👍😁😁

I don’t think you’ll get the kettle under the bathroom tap, buy the best you can for Val😀

There is no evidence that micro plastics are shed by GRP tanks and pipes. They should all be WRAS approved materials.
