Beautiful Mercedes Autotrail ruined, words fail me

It`s worth bearing in mind that the current "fashion" in Decoration, I am informed, is for "greys". And It is not unknown for some, to seek to change the decoration of their homes twice in any one year! We have a friend who`s wife redecorated throughout every year, until she became physically unable to do it. It would not therefore be unexpected that some would wish to do the same with their "mobile" homes too.? The
Fashion for Grey will no doubt move on. And be superseded by some other design fad?. Whilst "battleship" colours are not my personal taste, it does appear to have been done with reasonable care, brush marks excepted.

I do wonder if, this particular one, may have had some abuse in it`s early ownership, and the new owners saw this as a way to create some improvement?

I'm rarely stuck for words but this Merc popped up on Gumtree.
Some DIY fiend has butchered the interior to such a tune that I doubt if it could be rescued?

It’s an interior massacre. The blatant use of scatter cushions and dangerously long tassels on throws is a total disregard for health and safety. I have no words to describe the precariously placed artificial flowers on the hob. Butchered, where does one begin.

i thiink the grey cupboards and trim is a great upgrade from the vinyl wood look of that era

Yes, but to be fair, they only used Farrow and Ball eco friendly and refreshingly expensive paint, not good old fashioned lead based products...........

I personally don’t like it as it is a bit twee, but the only concern would be what is hidden under the NATO air defence grey* painted bathroom?

*yes I know it isn’t.......

Ballistic missiles? They could easily take out anyone without a sense of humour.

Fair point but, I am actually in the market for one of these rare motorhomes, the Mercedes version is as rare as hens teeth.
The owners ARE trying to sell it now, hence the ADVERT. One mans meat.

Fair play to the owners, I'm sure in their eyes it looks lovely but, people in supermarkets walk past ugly fruit & pick the nice pears, not the bruised ones, its human nature.

Whats wrong with it, where do I begin?

Its the rather crude painting of the lower cupboards, the addition of tacky chrome strips all over the place, the kitchen has had an explosion of grey paint up to & including the worktops.
The toilet, same grey paint all over the place & pictures on the wall, really!
The upholstery isn't nice but looked forgivable up til you read the description, refoamed & retrimmed, what happened to the sprung seating that Autotrail excel in, yuk!!!
All of that is before we get to the outside, the repainted cab looks like Stevie Wonder did it with a water pistol.

I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder but, I suspect this motorhome would look even worse in the flesh.

Its a twelve year old van that someone has freshened up, looks like they've done a good job too.

i wonder what ambulancekidd will make of this bessacar

Now that is some paint job

I’ve just ordered a brand new IH630RD with light oak doors and grey upholstery with grey leather trim which I think looks lovely and not unlike this van, oh dear I am clearly lacking in taste. I’ll tell Nick.

The colours suggest he could be an Ex Submariner and a "Pompey" fan?.
Not sure where you get that from,, Last submarine I served on was painted Black outside and bright as a button inside. Became a real home from home. :)

If we all liked the same thing, how boring life would be. Live and let live. It’s his and he likes it. Yours is yours and you like it.....but some may not. What does it matter. (y)

Pompey ??? England I don’t see the connection ? Saints fan

Pompey flag in rear window - your in-built denial prevents you seeing it:rofl:

I thought they were yellow? :D

I see the creator's Mum has thoughtfully provided a stairgate to keep him safe.....:giggler:

We all like or hate different things, that's why MrA is entitled to his opinion, as is everybody.
I must admit that, for the same reasons, wouldn't like a MH that has been painted any colour, what kind of hard life could that be covering!
And who on earth wants a painted work surface anyway!
There's nothing wrong in putting your mark on a MH, in making it yours, but not when the chances are it's been done just to sell it, a cover up.

Bugger that's are commission gone on that one.
