BBQs ??

Having taken one with us one time (charcoal bucket type) it was good, but what do you do / how to store a greasey BBQ?

No matter how I cleaned still had some residue and fatty smell and didn't want to just having it sat in the box in the cupboard or garage area???
We’ve a flat pack propper charcoal BBQ (rather than the cooking outside gad jobbies 🤔).
It’s e z to clean and has its own bag.
We store it under the main bed.
Not noticed a stale bbq smell.

Have a look at Outdoorchef.
Easily the best, easiest and most unknown BBQ. Start BBQing in 5 minutes, cooks to perfection and because of its unique design never burns anything - Outdoor Chef City Grill. I have one at home (different model, same principle) that is 25yrs old.

We use a Cadac Safari Chef 2, and the paella pan (which we use most). Selected this as it‘s compact and stows away nicely in the back of our PVC. We have an exterior gas point from a Gaslow system.

Not a real BBQ but enables us to do most of our cooking outside on our table top. (y)

Soon to be followed by threads on fitting a gas outlet and what length of hose is optimum . . . .

Cadac all day long.
One of the benefits of having the suitcase BBQ which works off cylinders that can be bought cheaply anywhere so no need to have a gas outlet in the MH ... we also have a small stove version too so don't have to carry 2 different types of cylinders which is a bonus (they just go in the gas locker with the main cylinders so are transported safely).

I have 2, one for the van and the other out on the patio. Makes great pizza’s every week.

Ditto the Cadac - ours runs on LPG plugged in to the van or, if we are in gas saving mode, on cylinders which we carry as spares. Don't actually use the cooker in the van much at all unless we are plugged in, in which case we use the leccy ring to boil the kettle (and anything else that might need boiling like rice and potatoes).

We bought one of these...

Lotus Grill

No idea if they are any good, will let you know after this weekend!!

Cheers

Gerry
It will be interesting to know what it's like. A quick check on line shows it to be sold on at Lotus Grill's website but here is something that looks to run on a similar principal and is in stock at the RNLI On Line shop _ anyone looking for this type of BBQ may be able to get one there and help out an extremely worthy charity at the same time.

We have the Cadac for cheating with gas and the Weber Smokey Joe for charcoal grilling, had both for sometime and have no complaints 👍

One vote for the Cadac Safari. Does great steaks in French vineyards.

We also have it’s bigger brother. Bought during lockdown so not vineyard tested.

Nice steaks... did you buy them in France or take them with you?

Bought in a Boucheri - we just wander when in Betsy, no bookings. Just find an aire or France Passion stop and mooch. Buy what looks nice. The overnight at the vineyard was free. Like many awesome nights in other vineyards. The wine we bought however was not. :wine: :wine: :whistle2: :whistle2:

The dogs got really put out as the holiday continued beacause we stored the wine under the table where they slept. They had a lot less space on the way home

we’ve had a few BBQs like that. Even if a Cadac isn’t a real BBQ.

Weber Q1200 great BBQ, bought griddle plate and roasting rack can cook just about anything ,if you want a smokey flavour wrap flavoured wood chips in a small foil package with a hole in the top it will smoke the food and adds amazing flavour to your food.

Morning. Thank you for all your comments.

We bought a Weber Q1200 with the stand. yesterday. It was on special offer in Squires garden centre.

it’s assembled and packed into the MH garage ready for the off today. Weather looks good for BBQ ing so looking forward to time away.
Thanks again

I would venture that the best BBQ is the one you use most.

I've seen folk buy all sorts of fancy bits of kit with chimneys, lids, smoke boxes, ashpits, lids with temperature guages, fans and goodness knows what else, that are only used once or twice a month with pretty poor results due to lack of practice and basic understanding of how to cook on fire.

We use a simple open tray with a 4 position rack around 18 inches wide and 10 to 12" deep (front to back). Used 4 or 5 times a week every week and only needs a few handful of proper large charcoal lumps (nb not garage bought charcoal shards and dust). Bigger / expensive does not always equate to best.
Your suggestion is good for sunny Spain but on a damp evening in the U.K. gas is probably the best choice.

We've just bought leg extensions for ours.
May try them tomorrow when I cook breakfast.👍

We have a o-grill 900t, its not put a foot wrong in 3 years. I usally cook whole fish on it but I've done a full chicken in it plus usual bbq meats.
Its looking a little battered and I wish I had bought the legs for it. Available in Spain so when we get back into mainland Europe

I will get it some legs.

The Travel Trolls are at the moment pushing them to the hilt on YouTube, must be getting a bung I would think.
Not seen them wash it yet.

I’ve just cooked two pizzas on ours, no dirtier than when I started.
