Bath Clean air zone

I always use the BANES council MOT facility, it's just moved to Keynsham (presumably to be well outside the LEZ). They are discounting their fee right now.

"BathNES Council's new workshop at WORLDS END LANE, KEYNSHAM opens Dec 2023. Discount on MOTs in 2023/24-use code DISCOUNT MOT. mot_bookings@bathnes.gov.uk.

Edit: Forget that, I was thinking you were south. It's been a long week.

Not sure what you call a million....

Avonmouth Auto Electrical do big MOTS. Just off M5 J18.

Thanks, though Avonmouth is further away than Radstock (which I believe is where Haydon Gate is?)

Would you recommend Haydon Gate for MOTs? Trying to find somewhere not a million miles away from Trowbridge (where our van is stored).
Yes. They seem perfectly good to me. I have taken my vans there for 3-4 years now. My old Hymer B654 at 7m fitted fine on their ramps.

I also live near Bath. The £100 charge applies to non euro6 motorhomes over 3500kg. Mine is 3900kg so I keep the van away. The signage is not very visible.

Its not easy to get around the zone north / south. But going west of Bath is better than over the toll-bridge into Bathampton. But its further.

Don’t come to Bath without a map of the charge zone. Many motorhomes over 3500kg are classed as heavy goods vehicles, not motorhomes. Well, my Hymer is anyway. Great for paying less VED, but not good in charge zones. If yours is, and you know you are coming, you can get it exempted before you travel.

There is currently no charge for private cars/vehicles under 3500kg. Commercial vehicles under that weight are £9 per day. So watch out if you have a converted van still registered as a van.

The marina campsite is outside the zone.
I have just checked Baths charges and my motorhome under 3500kg is charged at £9 per transit. It is registered as a motorhome

Yes. £9 per day under 3500kgs. My post stated £100 over 3500kgs. The free time ended some time ago for non compliant vans, and perhaps cars. Local motorhomes can apply for an exemption still I think.

check your registration number on their website before coming.

The campsite on the west side of Bath is outside the zone.

I live in Bathampton - good luck getting anything longer than about 5 metres over the toll bridge! It's not so much the weight but the bend in the road. It just needs a few cars queueing and you'll block the whole thing up :)

I don't know if it's been mentioned already, but Euro 6 vans are exempt in Bath. Ours is 4.4T and we don't have to pay. That said, don't take my word for it ...
