Baltic Wharf redevelopment latest news

Thinking of a few days there this month.
Is it worth a visit? We like a wander into town, some local pubs and restaurants (CV aware of course)

If you get the chance then GO!

It is the most fabulous city but I fear that much of it will have COVID-19 restrictions.

There is a river taxi from outside the site into town during the day.

I still have a week booked there for the Christmas market but I doubt it will happen

Many happy memories over the last 15 years that I have been visiting.

Last time we bought a runabout tour bus ticket. seemed expensive but the first day we did the tour and next day used it to hop on and off all around the city.

Wasn’t the original proposal to redevelop the site for a school?

  • Nice One!

Property developers will always trump essentials such as schools and hospitals. More brown envelopes involved(n)

Make sure you’ve got a bike or an electric car!;)

(I’ve just read the article in the paper.....)
Yes Bristol is very very anti cars /vans in fact anything with an internal combustion engine !!!!! Parking fees are out of this world a truly modern city sic ! Oh yes by the way they have renamed the coulston hall now , BUT to me it will always been known as the coulston ! Many a happy day /night there over the many yrs I have visited the city thank you Bristol !

Great city, bus stop outside, but the city metro buses don't accept cash. Sign of the times, you have to buy a ticket from the machine at the bus stop.

Go.
Covid may make a big difference - there was always something going on. Otherwise there's plenty to see and the open-top bus ride is a good intro (weather permitting).

Used it many a time, when we lived in Yeovil back in the 80`s and 90`s we used it every year for Christmas shopping. Several years on the trot, the I Mar-E dinner was held on the Great Britain. I used to book a couple of nights on Baltic Wharf, Nice short walk and no Drink drive!. Its a sad loss to greed.

Always have a great time in Brizzle.

just the right buzz for a few days and nights

couldn’t live there though , too many houses , streets etc etc etcc.

stupid to press ahead with that project with the current climate and financial crunch looming. Like many other projects, I can see the current landscaping destroyed and then the money will dry up leaving an eyesore for years. At least as it is, then the land is making a difference and bringing money and tourists to the city

We’ve found it quite the opposite. We used to use the Long Ashton Park and Ride, £4.50 for both of us, 20 minutes tops to our stop.

Since the inception of Metrobus, £9 for two of us, 40 minutes to get to our stop.

5 hours in one of the main centre car parks, £6.30........we drive into the centre now.(y)

And why might that be?

We used one of the multi-story carparks about 10 years ago when we visited, went back late and walked past some druggies shooting up, bit scary to honest couldn't get in the car and get out of there quickly enough.

Love staying here. Will sorely be missed when it does finally shut.
Though Last month some scrote tried sawing through the lock securing our bikes to the back of our van whilst we were sleeping. Luckily disturbed him and he legged it.
