Autosleeper,autotrail,hobby,or hymer?

I'm biased, go for the German one's.
Part of my reason is layout, which is the most important thing. For example, it is nearly impossible to find a PVC from a UK manufacturer that has single/double longitudinal beds at the rear. It's all rear lounges that convert at night to beds. Two things wrong with that. Virtually nil storage space and secondly I like a fixed bed. Making a bed has to be the worst job in the world, I could not face it each night. The Europeans don't really seem to do the 'rear lounge' in a PVC other than on some models they export to UK. The choice from European manufacturers is much wider. In the end we've gone Slovenian this time (Adria). Sort of full circle really, the first motorhome we had was an Adria back in the days when they were relatively cheap and cheerful!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Its a bit of a joke plus steering wheel & hab door on the wrong side.
getting confused, old man. Steering wheel on the side you want it for the UK, plus the hab door right AND a drivers door to get in and out of, not one of those stupid Hymen things you have to break in to use :)

Lenny thinks he knows everything cos he’s steering wheel is on the left and he has a European a class nothing else matters. I very much doubt you could tell this guy anything at all about motorhomes and 12v 🤷‍♂️🤣

My 2006 AutoTrail Cheyenne 696 SE suited my layout and garage requirements. Heavily customised over the years for 'Our' Style of usage like 2 X WIFI / 4G Booster / Mobile Office/ Twin Prop Tanks / Air Suspension / Custom Graphics / Custom Permanent Rear Bed / Garage fully customised / Multiple TVs / Custom Evening seating / Re Carpetted / Fully re-upholstered.... It looks a bit different from 'Off the Production' line. Lots of work for me but I like tinkering with my Rig....LOL
When I get asked for advice my first question is 'What are you going to be doing With/In it & what is your Budget?
Hope this helps

layout, layout, layout - doen't matter the brand but it does need to tick as many boxes on your very personal list as possible. it could be the most expensive, premium make out there but if it doesn't work for you............. anyhow given there is so many common parts and flucuating build quality today, a reliable dealer is more important than the make if buying new or a decent history if 2nd hand

What is rule 1 does this mean your going fishing again
For your information (and that of Tude), I copy a post made by Jim as long ago as 2008.

"This is Motorhome Fun we rarely need to moderate posts because fun members are so well behaved. In the main we like to keep things light-hearted, that said we also enjoy a vigorous debate with opposing points of view. We do not mind that a thread gets heated but if you insult or name call another member in your posts you will be immediately banned. Please keep it fun. Thanks"

That is Rule 1.

I respectfully point you to your own post. You asked, "What is Rule 1"

For our van we had the following things to consider:
Manufacturer/model reputation and reviews
Age of van
Budget
4 forward facing seatbelts
We then went out and looked at vans in our budget and settled on a Hymer 544 or similar model 2000-2005 but in 2021 I found it easier to locate hens teeth. Then we decided on keeping the van on the drive instead of storage but our drive is narrow so researched again and decided on a autosleeper monoqoce? Shell type. We found one we love it.....is the lay out what we wanted.....well we love it anyway.

Surely depends on how much you want to spend? Buying second-hand and is usually a safer bet for getting a good quality of product.

As for your first sentence, you are correct. You shouldn't, (I can't insist, it's your choice) that you, "have a go at someone personally and there's a rule for that get real"

I make no comment as to the second sentence.
