Auto Trail Delivery Times

ALL makes and models have a % of problems, some more than others.

You have to be lucky/unlucky depending on how you look at it.

Spotting issues early and getting them sorted is the key.

Ordered a Delaware HB in Oct, given 22nd March for delivery to dealer, van arrived last Wednesday we are picking it up on Tuesday.
This will be our third Autotrail our previous two have both been no problem.
Just been told that we will be receiving our Apache on June 21st instead of the end of May,I can live with that!

Kev, we are never going to see eye to eye on this matter so its pointless gong on and although I may understand that you have had issues with AT but to be told that "you will choose a totally different make the next time around" etc etc and all the other doom and gloom comments doesn't bode well with me as I got the message the first time.
I am looking forward to receiving the MH that I have chosen and I have told you several times that I am willing to put up with the consequences if it doesn't pan out as I had hoped that it would but it sems to have fallen on deaf ears.
It is although you want to broadcast your opinion at any cost,no offence but I just dont get it.

My apologies to you for upsetting you and your first post. I am sorry.

Seriously had no intentions of upsetting you or your partner at all. It is just how things go on here. As Tonka said...We just sometimes like to add a few things that can and do help you or anyone interested. Its a big platform to spill the beans on! By that...anything can happen. But it should be taken as a joke or a poke at someone without malice or harm.

I seriously do wish you guys well with your purchase..honestly I do. As I said...have fun on here and give as much as you taken.. We can all handle it. Sometimes it goes into the realms of being a little serious but then we have a "JIM" on board who will always put things right.

Again...My apologies to you .

Kev

Kev,
Apologies accepted,it is very honourable of you.
As I am indeed a newbie to this wonderfull social network platform I have no doubt that I will in time get accustomed to the ways in which it works and I appreciate your explanation,it has been noted for the future.
You will have to let me know what problems you had at some time ,you never know I may have some of my own to tell you in the future.
Catch up with you on another thread maybe.
Thanks
Mike

Errrrr- oh yes they do- from FIRST HAND experience
Sorry missed out the word latley. The latest ones that have the latest pure plus bonded bodies are a lot better than before they're just made of flimsy wood and fastenings inside I presume to keep the wiehht down. We had a 2017 one and got rid after 1 year

Mine was new in June 2018 !!!!!
Just traded it in for a PVC

That's what was confusing - before or after you get pulled and found to be overweight ?
Not confusing whatsoever. If I needed additional payload I would travel without water. If I didn’t, I would fill up; no mention of being overweight. I have never needed to travel with and empty water tank because I weigh everything I carry and manage where I put it. Not rocket science is it now?

I was told all caravan and motorhome manufactures do the same sort of thing. They get orders in then make them in batches rather than stop start different models.

They have evidently not seen how the French do it. We visited the Pilote factory and they were building all sorts of different MHs on the same production line. I suppose the difference is the SKILLED workforce in France know what they are doing. They had two ladies at the end of the production line and heaven help anyone who got it wrong. MHs were also being cleaned as they went round the build area and the whole place was buzzing.

Wonder if the OP has got his MH now and is enjoying it.

Apparently my V-Line 540 should be ready to leave the factory tommorrow, but someone then has to co-ordinate transport to the dealer and the dealer wants to give it a PDC before I get my hands on it. I'm like a coiled spring.

The Uk runs on agency and zero hours contract workers, not full time employees. May be that has something to do with it.

Make sure that you give it a good inspection, especially the water pipe system. Here's one guy who posted up yesterday about his 10-day old V-line and the second guy has four leaks in the van which Autotrail Grimsby couldn't even fix; i.e they fixed the leaking pipe at Grimsby only for it to blow up again and flood the van within 24hrs of the repair being made.

Good luck!

Thanks, I'll be taking a close look, albeit that I won't really know where exactly to look for everything, after all so much will be hidden. But then, I have difficulty in recommending anyone buy a new build house as everything will be concealed behind nice pristine finishes and it can take a while for any faults to manifest themselves.

I don't want to appear that I'm in ostrich mode, and I'm well aware of the critique of Autotrail on here. I take some reassurance that the dealer has said they want to get the van from Autotrail and allow time for their own pdi before they will allow me to collect it.

It is worth noting the complaint listed above must be from a vehicle now built at least 3 years ago based on the plumbing fault description. A lot can have changed in the interim, for better (or worse).

Does anyone know anyone that has been pulled and weighed?
Lots of times but that was in HGVs..BUSBY.

The first report is of a new 2019 634 SE van just collected this month but what is more notable is the water leak around the Sargent electrical block. It seems to be a common problem in new V-lines while Autotrail does not seem to have changed the pipe system in the last few years so make sure to test the hot water and water flow pressure asap. There was a post by a technician on FUN last month whereby he advised to tape up the V-line pipework junctions as soon as a new van was delivered as it is such a common problem.

Some guys are looking at rejecting their v-line and one person is advising the others on how to do it since they successful rejected their van a few months ago.

All the best,

Andrew

We didn't end up with the Autotrail after all as they moved the delivery date back once again and that was unacceptable, we opted at short notice for a Carado T447 as it had a large garage that we needed and a much better payload I may add. More than happy with our choice..
