Attitude pre deal v Attitude post deal.

We bought our last van from Edwards of Worcester. Great experience. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

This van from Redditch. Same experience as OP. ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž
Edwards service my Sorento. They also do the odd jobs on my mx-5 which need a ramp.

They've always struck me as honest and competent.

Why would they worry about repeat buisness, what is the average age of the customers and life expectancy of them. Most will be dead before they need another one
Speak for yourself. We are nearly 75, have owned four boats, three caravans and two motorhomes, and we aren't finished yet!๐Ÿ˜Š

We went to Highbridge to look at a van we were interested in the salesman was an arse,โ€ mileage on screen is 2000 lower than on the Speedo?โ€โ€Does it matter!โ€,โ€wing mirror missing?โ€we took it off to put on a van that went out yesterday!โ€โ€inside dirty?โ€โ€havenโ€™t got round to cleaning it yet!โ€โ€shower door broken?โ€โ€well nobody uses their showers do they!!!and anyway if you donโ€™t want it Iโ€™ll just sell it to the next person who comes along!!โ€

The salesman will be on a basic wage plus commission for any sales he makes. Therefore he has no interest in people already committed to a purchase. That is a job for the aftersales customer services, or service department. He should not be rude, but it is in his own interest to focus on the next sale

We used to find salesfolk happy to chat with current customers, but politely walk away to greet new customers, as they remember many customers can provide repeat business. Currently van stocks are low and the salesmen are very keen to sell what they have to up their income
Here's the thing though..the sales person is one of the owners..so I can't really contact the top man to complain..I'd end up complaining to him ๐Ÿ˜’...we haven't even got the moho yet ...see on collection day if he gets narky ..I'll end up going all fresh Prince on him .

Some dealers are like that no doubt, but the dealer we bought from has been superb both pre and post purchase - we even recently got repairs done as a goodwill, 3 months outside the warranty period.

When I bought our two MHs 1st Swift - 2nd Carthago, I knew the salesman for the Swift, who was the Man Director at Cranham Upminster. Our relationship covered a couple of Caravans leading to the MH and that relationship was just magic. Still bump into him. During the collection handover of the caravans and MH, the sales team introduce you to the workshop manager. He gave me his business card and asked me to contact his department if we had any ongoing issues. In a mater of fact way he just said ' Any problems with the van the buck stops with his department.'.
If you think about it, this is correct. You negotiate the deal with the sales team, arrange collection and pay for it. From that point onwards we deal with the workshop with issues so that department makes or breaks your ongoing relationship with the company.

When we bought the Carthago, it was a stock ready vehicle (they were the days) I did the negotiating over the phone with one of the companies owners and agreed the price. Then received a call a few days later from the workshop manager in Bawtry (Premium MHs) to arrange collection date and additional work on the van that I wanted. Hand over was done by the workshop manger (who has since retired). From this set up again any issues was going to be from his department to resolve.
I hope this arrangement at hand over has not changed from these two dealers as I found dealing with the aftersales department more important once you have the van to get things sorted if needed.

That's very poor. I have sold once and purchased twice from Highbridge(Somerset) found them first class. Warranty issues post purchase also impressive. It's going to be interesting if what I have ordered actually turns up given what is going on. Will be taking a list of each element of the upgrade packs I paid for to ensure they are present.

They are not all like that. We've had good experiences with Camper UK. I also know friends who have had positive experiences with Moran Motorhomes in Ludlow and Hayes Leisure in Darlaston.
Plus one for Hayes. Phoned them a few months ago about an issue with a van purchased in 2018 and Chris remembered me and the van and was very helpful (unlike the Pilote factory - still no sign of the double glazed side window after 3 months)

lol happy days :) but some people change cars/vans/moho's as often as they do thier Pants............now I know something is wrong with what I have written but I am sure there is a truth in there somewhere :)

I would love to tell him to shove it ..but we really want this moho and there's not another one with that spec available in the country ๐Ÿ˜ข...he's got me over a barrel ...and he knows it .:X3:

So where do you think youโ€™ll be in 2 months time when you have found the various faults etc associated with secondhand Mohoโ€™s and they donโ€™t want to or canโ€™t mend em? READ AND LEARN FROM OTHER POSTS.

Theyโ€™re already showing you their true colours.

Back out and find another dealer. Youโ€™ll know when itโ€™s the right one.

I am more rather be supprised then disappointed camp

Surprised is good, disappointed is badโ€ฆโ€ฆ.a bad thing isnโ€™t a surprise.

Talking from very recent experience. (y)

Ih the same at Worcester approached them with a query no-one around so not using up selling time as soon as they new it was an old van and not upgrading it was of no interest. I like my old van but if I did consider upgrading would I by direct from ih or a van I fancied . I would think twice. However on contacting them direct they were very happy to quote in the ยฃ1000'S for the repair
Personal to us business to them no emotion or attachment once the 'unit' is sold

This is how the motor trade works, the salesperson only receives commission on a sale. You might be surprised to learn the high earners in this business are usually very skilled at giving the impression that they are your new best friend, as soon as you have committed to purchase, you are history. Of course there are honest and pleasant sales people, but they donโ€™t earn what the ruthless ones do.
