Aren't campsites god forsaken places

And they could be free out in the country instead of being on top of one another, the motorhome or cara an is the total holiday, not being somewhere different just all crowded together where they came from.
Well they are clearly happy, each to their own surely?
I don't see anything unusual in what you're commenting on, Some people go to the shower wearing a bath robe.

A few years ago I stayed on a huge site in Rosolina Mare on the Po river Delta.
It was something of an enforced stay and not one id want to repeat.
It was full of the most unfriendly Italians I've ever come across. They all seemed to have caravans on huge seasonal pitches, fully enclosed with fencing and equipped with external freezers, oil drum BBQs, you name it they had it.
Saturday night came and the had half a cow on the bbq before parading up and down in their finest going out D&G clobber, or fake stuff.
I tried talking to a few and got blanked completely.
Our pitch was awful, nothing marked out, just park among the trees, dirt, dust, dead leaves that got treaded in the van.
Never again would I go to that place, four years on, I still bear the scars.

We have been on this campsite in venimiglia for three days now but been out in the day until today as Julie wanted to go in the sea, so we have been down this morning but had a lazy afternoon ready to get up early for the market tomorrow.
We just don't use campsites as a rule and it's been brought back to me why.
All on top of one another, and the folks in caravans and small vws and the like wandering up and down with towels to the showers or pots to the washing up place, in-between they just sit about.
People knock Aires but you don't get any of that as they are all self contained and go out in the day.
I have knocked CCP, but they are a third the cost of this place and ten times better never mind free Aires.
Isn't that exactly what campsites are for lol. Folk Park up , put up awnings , windbreaks chairs out make a house and garden on their bit of rented land , sit outside and drink watching and complaining about everyone else lol .

The men are generally bored and desperate for something to do like fetch water ,empty the toilet , polish the van anything at all really. The women have the bra straps rolled down ,the knees out ,sitting in the sun reading the people's friend .

Those with kids have no idea where they are ( usually in the toilets making a mess)

Or at least that's how they were last time I was on one.

If they have a motorhome why haven't they got their own shower?
You should ask them.
Isn't this a beachside campsite? Why would you go out into the country when you're next to a beach. 🤭

I can think of nothing I want less that an outlook of lots of other campers/caravans and the sight and sound of kids whizzing round and round on their bikes, or listening to other people television, arguments etc, or tripping along to amenity blocks to sh.. shower and shave. Give me an aire, a pubstogp or a small CL any day

Never seen such a performance, draw in, shuffle about a bit, get levelers out start up again backwards and forwards a time or two, then hookup to electric, get the sky dish up, twirl it round a time or two, get the awning out, tables and chairs all got to be leveled up, fill water, get a waste hog lined up, time to go in then.
Chaser, you bored?

that sounds like a Care Home !

I do,it's much easier than hopping about on one leg trying to get dressed in a tiny cubicle,,,especially when you have R.A. BUSBY.

If they have a motorhome why haven't they got their own shower?
Plenty of people have a shower in the van but would rather use the block as the hot water lasts longer, even Mrs funflair can be seen walking to a shower block very occasionally if it is a nice one, as for communal dish washing facilities I have to say we rather like them for the social side, last time a couple of us went to wash up we got talking to a young lad who was camping with his DofE school mates and we had a really good chat while I tried to get the burnt on pasta out of his pan:LOL: 20 minutes later it was nearly clean but the girls thought we had been kidnapped.

I should add that we very rarely use campsites so maybe it's the novelty factor

You don't want to come here then mate

Woman just gone past with a suacepan in her hand.
I must be about to commit a most heinous crime then.

I’m on an aire and just steamed a load of veg. The resulting water from said veg is typically very green looking and smelling. So I don’t have a stinky waste water tank I’m going to walk the pan over to the borne drain and tip it straight out there.
It works for me - I have never had stinky waste water.

If they have a motorhome why haven't they got their own shower?
Shock horror - we use campsite showers if they're available and decent. AND we have our own shower in the van. I know, bring back the birch!

Why? Well, further shock horror, I have *children*. Not everyone in a motorhome is a grumpy old retired couple (only about 50% ! And another 45% who aren't grumpy! ;))

5 people showering generates a lot of fresh water to fetch, and grey water to get rid of. The shower has to emptied first of towels, laundry bags etc etc. It's wet afterwards so they can't go back in straight away and clutter the van up. Far easier to use the campsite showers at quiet times, and have a nice long shower to boot.

We do use our shower but usually only when on aires.

Some campsites are nice, some are awful. With a bit of care it's easy to avoid ones we know we won't like.

When we no longer have the kids with us, are getting old and probably increasingly grumpy then I can see us using aires and wildcamping a lot more.

Julie just looking it up now, but it says they don't take converted vans :(
We were parked next to one or two there earlier this year. Yours would put some to shame there. A few people walking around there with towels. :giggle:

Yes when kids were younger had no choice really but not been on one in at least 10 years now.
Not heard you talk of kids before.
Come on, how many, what flavour ?
