Aren't campsites god forsaken places

I have discovered in my motorhoming life that...

... there are nice, well priced campsites...

... there are horrid, nasty expensive campsites... and a vast range of campsites in between.

The same with so called "aires"...

...and the same with off-site spots.

JJ

What I find odd on here is that no one has mentioned not using any type of public toilets? I only mention it as I'm quite amazed by the amount of people I've come across here, like my spanish neighbour, who refuse to use any type of toliet outside of there own house?

I still can’t believe someone had the audacity to walk past @chaser with a saucepan
It is the saucepan that is worrying me? :LOL:We don't carry any. If I recall correctly we only have a frying pan?

I wasn't going to post on this thread.
As long as folk are happy do what you please.
But then decided I had to post a pic of the site we are on in Viaden Luxembourg.
Full facilities electric showers etc all spotless 15 Euro.
There's a camper park type aire type site closer to center but they are 20 euro with electric 2 euro extra. They also have facilities.

My shower while biggish for a motorhome is still small. I have to fill up the water. Warm it up. Get rid of the grey waste and dry myself as a contortionist.

However….. the site we are on has tiled underfloor heated shower rooms 14 feet by 8 feet with a six foot shower tray, constant piping hot water, a dressing station with sink and a toilet. There is also a bin, a hairdryer and hand dryer.

Mind you, it is 30 yards away…..
I'm just off to site reception to complain!:swear2:

Why did the under floor heated (and it was on(y)) 200 sq ft wet room I've just had a shower in only have a toilet and wash basin, along with the shower, and not a bath (with another shower over it!) like the one next door?

And, still nobody has walked past with a saucepan, basin of dirty dishes, etc, etc, etc!

And, I've not used enough water on our fully serviced pitch to need to put more in or had to plug the TV aerial point in as we've got a good satellite signal!

If I'm paying a fortune for all this I want a rebate as I ain't getting it!:swear2:

This is becoming totally unacceptable!:swear2:

Like Lenny HB. A lot. He is a man of great experience and will impart knowledge and help others especially anything to do with electrics when he can. When it comes to campsites/aires/wild camping it becomes a tad boring. Arguments or debates that have been well rehearsed so many times. Each to their own, don’t need to tell everyone I like a mixture of all.
The problem is that not 'everyone' has been told yet, you've heard it but others won't have especially new funsters who will be his new 'victims' ... give him a break ... he's got to wait a year for his new MH and has got a severe case of the jitters! :giggle:

Ok. That does it. Time for me to get off this forum.
I can understand your frustration, whilst I don’t think the OP would want you to leave I don’t think they realise how divisive these type of threads can become. Rolling in grenades where you know land mines have already been planted isn’t always a good thing to do. Having said that there have been some useful informative responses as a result of this thread.

Try a CMC site then I think I've only stayed on 3 of them in my 50 years of camping and one of them had nice stinky loos. Urinal leaking nobody bothered to fix it & the showers were naff, really small no door just a manky shower curtain and it looked like a new block. I really don't understand why people like their sites.
Where was that and how long ago. I've been a C&MC member for over thirty years and have never seen showers with just a curtain and no door. And you know what I've even seen insanitary, to put in mildly services on aires.

About 6 years ago at Winchester.

That's a bit extreme, why not just ignore threads/people you don't like.
It’s just the one that threw me over the edge

Good to see that you had hold of your bungee cord when you went off the edge and have now bounced back up over on to the cliff again! :giggle:

I think even chaser would like this site.
I know it's now low season
No wardens. No notices other than how to use ticket machine
As a place just to chill it is outstanding
Could be different in the middle of summer though?

Spare a thought for the people in this van on just an aire. Maybe they don’t like campsites or can’t afford them but I’d hate to be moving all that stuff every time I moved the van and the stuff on the roof got all wet too.

Love Vianden and meant to stop there late August. How far from the town is the site. What's the name of it. Might go there if its still open as we head home late October.

It's about ten minutes walk along the river from the centre
Du Moulin it's the first site as you come into the village from the valley.
The facilities blockis really up with the best I have been on.
I think site is open all year
It's a bit strange just getting a parking type ticket but ok

So after 19 days travelling down through Germany and the Dolomites the wife decided we needed to stop and chill for a few days at a campsite. Up til now it's all been Aires or off grid.

So here we are at Choggia in Italy, just south of Venice, right on the private beach with parasols, swimming pool, restaurant and bar. Beautiful clean toilets and showers, electric, drinking water tap on our pitch, surrounded by Germans. It's hell! ;)

24 Euros a night but they close for the season on Monday.

I was not knocking vws ,we only have a whoosh bang ourselves but we don't have to wander about in dressing gowns with towels under our arms.
A bloke just this second walked past with three towels.
THREE towels, you should leave.
