Arctic circle baby

I have been looking as well. Sorting out the toll passes has confused the life out of me. BUT one day we hope to go up there. Nice pictures.

Seen in Finland it’s just not Australia that have road trains

We went in 2013 and would recommend the coast road. Spent 4 weeks on it getting to Nordkapp, ok there’s quite a few ferries to pay for (but less now 😄) but the scenery is fantastic. Only downside is that there’s so many superb waterfalls that it spoils you for anywhere else!

We’ve been in France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany and only seen 3 British mohos and not many more cars. We do generally look for the road less travelled, but even then, where is everyone?

We have been to and toured Norway many times.

First time just north of Oslo amazing beach house facing Utoya on the banks of Tirifjorden. Amazing first trip.

We have toured in the motorhome too, also whilst staying in huge private log cabins with private saunas, jacuzzis etc.

Love the place. But as there are no ferries from the UK, we don’t have the time to travel there anymore.

Have a great trip

What brilliant photos! Did it on a motorcycle in the summer of 1981 . Roads were very basic then, but for sheer majesty and beauty, the scenery is unbeatable. The miles-long tunnels were great fun, with ceiling lighting only every few hundred yards and water dripping down, too. Camping and staying in the 'hyttes' (sp.?). I, for one, could fancy going back...🙂

Gooday Mate!
That's not a 'Road Train' you have to have at least 2 trailors for a Road Train, that's just a Truck and Drag!

We’re currently parked on rte 98 on the way to Tana Bru In north east Norway. Sunshine and no traffic. Don‘t think we’ll cope with touring in the UK after this!!!
Not seen any UK vans!!!!

Camper vibe are currently in Norway and publishing regular videos on YouTube.
Some stunning scenery and great video production.

Definitely on my list of places to go. (y)
I don’t do “ hot “ places so it’s a very short list. :giggle:
I can’t decide if it’s going to be too expensive to take my tag axle, get a PVC or go on my motorbike!
If I take my tag axle I have a KTM 390 Duke in the back so can still get about. If I take my big motorbike it may be wet and cold. :giggle: But I do love camping, but maybe not for weeks on end.

Fantastic trip Phil ! Wish we were there with you, I need to work on Dee, still Shetland next month 👍🏻👍🏻
Yes it's great. Went for an early morning walk this morning and watched a young otter swim right pass me chasing a fish underwater. The water was so clear, and no reflection. But did not have my camera with me. I am sure Dee would like this place.

Yes have been in contact with them. They are getting some amazing footage. We are I think a little further up than them at the moment.

Out of interest, which route have you gone up? They say that the roads are better in Sweden, but running up the West Coast of Norway must be pretty amazing ...
We have gone up the coast rd form Kristiansand. Using ferries, tunnels, kept of the e6 for much of the route. Roads may be faster in Sweden, but I don't think it has the awe and wonder this route has. When I get back I will post the route and stops. All off park4night upto now.

No a Alfred Hitchcock movie , he has stuffed animals/birds on the wall , a very very atmospheric place and of course it holds the record of the coldest place in Europe -51’ c View attachment 639781View attachment 639781
Don't be afraid, I once lived in a place reminiscent of the film birds, and even more frightening it was in the 70s when we had power cuts. I had to walk home though a forest up on the hills. When the st lights went out it freaked the birds roosting in the trees and that freaked me cause I had recently watched the film. It was a massive starling roost.

We are all n a 3.8t a class 7 m.
Ferries go by length, but several are now free. Fuel about same price as UK, at the moment. Tolls are cheaper if you pre sort out a bizz before you leave. I will put the total cost up when we get back. This place is not like any other camping place I have been, Scotland is closest but not that close.

Ferry from Harwich to hook. Then a ferry from Germany to Norway has begun recently, may explain why so many German vans here.that would cut the time down by 4 days or so, to get here. I guess !

Toured Norway twice by motorcycle, fantastic country, scenery and roads. Second trip we caught the ferry from Harwich to Holland and travelled through Denmark then the Hirtshall ferry to Kristiansand. An easy and interesting journey. There may be a ferry starting next year from Scotland.

We did the trip to the North Cape in 2019 and loved it. We still talk about doing it again. Excellent roads, plenty of campsites and a growing number of stopovers to cater for motorhomes (lots of Norwegian motorhome owners) We went up through Sweden on the Gulf of Bothnia, then through arctic Finland to Norway and the North Cape. Back south following the coast of Norway taking in the Lofoten Islands, Atlantic road, etc. and stopping at Lindesnes Fyr the southernmost point in Norway on the way to Kristiansand to get the ferry to Denmark. There were very few Brits there when we went but that has always been our experience on our many shorter trips to Norway over the years (first visited in 1976 and can't stop going back) I think so many people in this country are put off Norway by the perception that everything is expensive there.
By the way MUH = meter under havet. Havet = the sea

No need to go that far as I posted some time this year. But they are all too expensive for a short tour .

Hi currently in Sweden after driving the Wilderness Road.
What rte

I know , I have overtaken a road train out of Alice never again

Norway and Sweden have been in my list for ages. Visited both countries previously but not by van. Though arriving in Bergen at night by sea was memorable. 🙂

I would LOVE to do this!! The scenery looks stunning. I could sit and look at it all day long!!

Can someone tell me, roughly, what would be the best route from the south west of France, please? Also, what is the best time of year to go when it's not cold or too busy? I need to get this on our list of places to go! :) It'll have to be next year, though, as our travel plans are just about fully booked for this year :( Thank you for any advice :)

If you like it cold and dark in the winter. Summer holidays are July, August. Upto mid late June could be snow and closed rds, but they clear them quickly ( so I am told) from I think September to may I believe you need all weather tyres and or snow chains. From september you have a better chance of seeing the northern lights. No chance may June July. May June I would say would be good, quieter and September October. But it's holiday time here and now and it's no where near busy ( as we would imagine).

The Lyngen Alps. A stunning 90km long mountain chain running on the west side of the Lyngen fjord east of Tromsø.

The city of Trondheim is lovely and worth a visit. There is a council operated motorhome stopover on the edge of the city centre. Essentially a large carpark with motorhome sized bays, hook up points, water and waste facilities and fenced off. An easy walk into the center of the city.
