Rally Appuldurcombe Rally Isle of Wight 26/06/23 to 01/07/23

Living life on the edge! xx

Getting excited now, found Red Squirrel walk both sides of the camp site. More importantly one way ends in 2 pubs and dog friendly.

Anyone else on the Red Funnel Southampton 13.00 ferry ?
I'm really looking forward to it too.The walks around the site are absolutely stunning. The Appuldurcombe house ruins are well worth a visit too.

Just down the road is the Donkey Sanctuary which is a nice a visit.xx

Bristol.
Brian and Helen, aka Quackers, are also on the 13.00 ferry. I can see a convoy......on the IoW news causing huge traffic chaos!

Same boat Clive, have you got your CB radio ready for a convoy.

Hello everyone
I do hope your all well and looking forward to your Isle of Wight adventure!
I popped into Appuldurcombe this afternoon and it's looking stunning
I met the Lovely Cherry and she said she's really looking forward to hosting the rally.
She showed me the area where everyone will be.
She's even allocated the big grass area( see pics) with benches where we can all congregate.I will put up a gazebo too.
The bar is open from 6.30 til 10pm,they can cook pizzas but she will need to know numbers beforehand so she doesn't over order so just let her know.
She has been so welcoming and helpful.
The swimming pool looked very inviting, just one couple enjoying it when I took a sneaky look!
She's going to email directions to me from East Cowes which I will post on here.
There is a lane that takes you down to camp site but this is best avoided as very narrow so ignore directions on Google.
Really looking forward to meeting you all.
Have a safe journey down.
All the best
Kim and Ivan xx

Just had a look at that lane on Google Street View - how can anyone miss the signs 6.6 width limit? Mind you coming from the other end no such signs?

Apparently Cherry had a caravan owner go down there and then she got angry because she couldn't turn the caravan round!!!!

Chris & Tracy

We are also on the 12.00 ferry and are planning to stay the night before in the car park at the Winchester Hotel and Spa on Worthy Lane. I'm informed that overnight stays in the coach park area are free for motorhomes from 6.00pm to 8.00am.Happy to meet up if you are interested - post Code is SO23 7AB. We've never done this before or indeed a rally but it's all part of our dive into the world of motorhoming!

How exciting!
A real adventure for you, well done.
We joined Brit stops and used them a few times when we visited the mainland.
We also found out tonight from friends were camping with at the moment that we can stay for 3 nights at Yaverland beach car park for 22 quid!!
It's got a toilet block, beach side cafe, zoo across the road with a cafe, gorgeous beach so what more would you want? xx
Have a safe trip down xx

Hello
Were booked on the midday crossing too, staying overnight Sunday somewhere near Southampton, not made plans yet, happy to have a meet up.

You're welcome to join the party phileas , winchester hotel on worthy lane is the place to be, sure there may be a watering hole nearby

Wishing you well with running your first rally. Sorry we couldn’t get there this year but hopefully we may manage a future trip. Looking forward to seeing you at Newbury again next year. Christine and Colin.

Hello Chris
Thank you so much.
We're really looking forward to it.
The site looked beautiful this week when I popped over.
The weather looks good for us so the pool will be well used!
Yes I hope it's a success and we can do it all again next year xx
