Hi,
looking for recommendations on navigation apps that can be used with Apple play to our new unit please

I decided to get a pioneer head unit with apple play rather than a hardwired satnav .

it works brilliantly but I’m yet to find an app for my iPhone that allows vehicle dimensions to be entered .
I’ve tried all of the usual suspects - waze, google , Michelin , tomtom , sygic etc , amd whilst they all work really well as navigation for cars , you cannot enter your vehicle dimensions .

anyone found an app that does ?

many thanks
Russ

I've not used Sygic, so can't comment on it.

I did have Co Pilot, but stopped using it when they no longer supported vehicle dimensions, and the maps became nothing more than car maps.

I have used Google maps and programmed a route for the MH, but did the journey in the car. Google took me through tiny streets unsuitable for a our MH, so now I only use them as a reference for info, not for actual routing.

I have just been looking at the Road Lords app on Google Play. Some of the reviews are not good, and as an experienced Truck and Coach driver, I wouldn't want to be relying on that app. I'll stick with iGo Primo..........................and common sense, ie, if it doesn't look right, it more than likely isn't. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Having just got home from a 6000km run to Sicily and back (home is Portugal) I can report that after google maps, sygic, apple maps and waze all sent me on ridiculous cross country, closed roads, restrictions and through tiny villages we invested in a Garmin camper when we got (very stressed!) to Sicily. Getting back was easy :-)

I have just downloaded iGO onto my phone, it looks pretty good to be fair and you can have a 30 day trial of European maps BUT it isn't carplay friendly and I will likely be sticking with CoPilot Caravan version that allows size and weight input although putting in weight at over 3500kg can force it onto back roads that are not weight categorised at all sometimes, recently I have set it to our van dimensions but 3500kg and it avoids the odd glitch and is most likely an improvement.

For carplay apple maps works well but no dimensions of course.

sygic claim to have an app especially for motorhomes with measurements entered.

I tried it and deleted it after a few days. I’m still using Copilotwith Motorhome support. In my opinion, it’s much better than Sygic, which doesn’t support CarPlay. There have been many requests for Copilot to support Apple CarPlay, but they are still not going to add CarPlay support - great shame.

Copilot and Sygic - I just don’t get it - adding CarPlay and android to the truck version is simple (they have it already) and would be marketing positive for them.

Nuts!

Much prefer copilot truck In Terms of directions but Sygic truck has some nice features.

I have settled for the following:

Most of the time Copilot truck on iPad with Apple maps on Pioneer screen set to show large map view so we can see where we are and this is set to non tolls

Switch to Sygic which is set to use tolls when this is necessary

Wish they would make switching tolls in or off easier
